Simple medical procedures do not cost thousands of dollars.
You might be referring to some of the endoscopies or arthroscopies, but those are invasive, they carry cosiderable risk, and are covered by insurance. Tatoo removal is purely cosmetic and not covered by insurance, requires several treatments, will likely leave evidence of it's prior existence (scarring or depigmentation), and will cost probably $1-3 thousand out of pocket.
However, the tatoo itself is more dangerous than the removal process.
HIV, Hep C, and other complex maladies can be transmitted by the needles.
Not a good idea to get one.
