Well Parcells alleged recent statement that he "can only be happy coaching football" (or that general idea) is the same one he made when he came back the last time. I think he's simply saying the truth hasn't changed.

Doesn't it make some sense that Bill walked away in Dallas as much because they weren't winning at the level he knew would be required for continued support of his iron-fisted ways? He said it early upon his arrival and we've been reminded again of late.

And the growing discontent last year was visible wasn't it? Amongst certain players, the local press, certainly fans on this board, even Jerry's acknowledgement of the "walking on eggshells" somewhat speaks to it.

So its not far-fetched, to me, to think Parcells left Dallas because he knew his act had worn thin more than he was out of coaching gas.

We shall see. And while I certainly respect what he did here I do not fear his influence elsewhere if he should happen to return. Frankly, I like having high quality competition, provided we are a high quality team. Hopefully THAT piece continues.
Despite what Parcells may say about his own happiness, he didn't seem consistently happy when he was coaching in Dallas.

He had his moments, of course, but it sure seemed like there were some pretty deep valleys in there too. Heck, it got so bad that some of his former players got worried about him .... (Wasn't it Jim Burt who showed up one week?)

Thing is, at that age, would it be smart to come back into a division in which you just built up an absolute juggernaut of a team? He knows how good Dallas is. Is it even worth trying to rebuild the Giants to that level, at his age?

If he came back to coaching, I'd think he'd want it to be outside the NFC East.

I agree with you. San Diego would probably be a good fit for him. Very, very weak division. The players there are in place.

I would think Parcells wouldn't want anything more than to build a team to beat the one he just built here. What has Parcells ever done to make you think he wants an easy coaching job?

I would not Rule out Parcells if the Charger or Giant job opened.

He's not perfect but a hell of a Coach/GM football mind still.

He rebuilt our franchise from garbage in 2002.

What owner would not want this guy?

If I was a betting man - he coaches Raiders.....

I could see him in a GM role, but judging from recent history, I think the game has passed him (and Gibbs) by.

Parcells? What a joke? I hope he goes to the Giants. This is the same Parcells who "didn't want TO." Can you imagine this team without TO. When Parcells got here he wanted to get rid of Flozell. JJ and others talked Parcells into keeping him. Parcells is the same guy who gave us the Vinny and Drew show. Parcells was sky high on Marcus Spears, wanted to draft him ahead of Ware.

Please go to the Giants. Eli will get worse. Plax will throw more than a T-shirt at you. And Parcells can play all the games close to the vest and try to win it in the 4th on a FG. Oh yeah, and the all-important special teams.

Parcells is a joke. Look what this team is doing without him! Same players, different coach! And I give much more(most) credit to Jeff Ireland and Jerry Jones for finding the players than Parcells.

And if Parcells should go to the Giants, do the Cowboys get any draft picks as compensation? That would be sweet.

I just think it's funny that people realy think jason will leave after this season. The guy has been nothing more then a QB coach up untill this year. NFL teams are worth 100's of millions of dollars and no owner in their right mind would hand that over to someone. He hasn't even coached NCAA football like most young coaches.
He is in his dream job right now and also has the understanding that he will take over the Boys when WP's contract expires. Jason is going no where. The only reason people on this board even talk about it is because desrpate fans on internet forums of decent to horrible teams are in panic mode with the season comming to it's end. Oh and lets not forget the fact that Troy is all over his **** and says every week that he will be a head coach some where next season.
Don't even worry about it because he will be here next year as OC and will take over as HC the following year.

It would be a bad move to have him follow Coughlin. They're too similar in temperament and the Giants are probably tired of that act.

Parcells made Ireland? Ireland/JJ just had a fantastic draft without Parcells. Why don't you try to explain how the Cowboys are doing so well without Parcells. Hello! Almost the same players!!! Different coach!!! I like the idiotic "kool aid" remark. Very original. Did you think of that by yourself?

Ireland and JJ succeeded in spite of Parcells and his idiotic old style thinking and coaching. Parcells is nothing. I was so happy that idiot Parcells left Dallas. Nobody misses Parcells!

He's saying right now on 103.3 that Parcells has told him how much he still is a football coach at heart and he won't be happy unless he's coaching football. Pat thinks he wouldn't come back for just any job, but that he would for the right one... Like the Giants.

Wow.

Wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if they fired Coughlin and chose Parcells, which allowed us to keep Red Jesus...

I don't think BP would want to coach the Giants. BP likes to take sorry teams and turn them around. He enjoys the challenge. I think he knew he took the cowboys as far as he could so it wasn't fun for him anymore.

If he coaches, it'd be the Dolphins or some crappy team like that.

BP will only coach if he can be coach/GM for someone.

The Dolphins would make a lot of sense.
He'd turn them around and hand them off to someone else.

I agree, I can definately see him going to Miami in a GM/coach role. He has a house down there, so that would work out. They already have personell for a 3-4 in place, and Parcells would be the perfect fit in Miami.

Hell, I still like Parcells as a coach now that he's not with us haha. He was perfect for our team at the time, but he did what he could, and it wasnt enough. I hope he turns the Dolphins around, that would be awesome.

You think Coughlins ways got old w/ that ball club? Wait till they get hold of Parcells.

Parcells would have those guys jumping out the bus window to get away. Talk about a mutiny.

Nah, Parcells would do the smart thing (what he did here) and get rid of any players he felt would oppose him. It's a smart coaching move. If you have vets with cred talking bad about the coach then the team won't buy into his "system".

He'd get rid of Strahan for sure. He'd be the first to go. Manning might stay cuz he has absolutely zero lockerroom cred.

Still, I think he'd want a bigger challenge then the Giants.

I lol'd. Can you imagine Bill standing behind Eli w/ that blasted air horn.

HONK !! Throw it !! HONK !! Throw It !! HONK !!!

@#$%Q$ ELI. Throw the ball !!!

Honestly, and I'm dead serious about this, I think Eli would commit suicide if he were coached by Parcells. I mean that. He has nowhere near the intestinal fortitude required to handle a coach like Parcells. Look at him now with Coughlin, and Coughlin is a teddy bear compared to BP.

At this stage of the game, I think Parcells would make a much btter GM than he would a coach.

He could concentrate on player aquisition and he wouldn't have to put in the hours that he would as a coach.

Furthermore, I believe dealing with the modern athlete and the Xs and Os are no longer Bill's strong suit.

I think San Diego would be a good fit for Parcells. They have a great running back and pretty good defense that runs a 3-4 and some experience at Quarterback.

I think LT would love to have the Old Ball Coach on the sidelines calling Run Left, Run Right and Run up the middle :laugh2: .

- Mike G.

Parcells would make Tomlinson change his running style.........

I think its just talk. He has had almost a year to rest up- and maybe he is thinking he still has some left in the tank. BUT I think when he really gets an offer and has to sit down and contemplate it all, he will say no.
