Wow! Troy Hambrick averaged 4.1ypc career!

The same could be said for Barry Sanders . . . and no, I'm not comparing Troy Hambrick to Barry Sanders . . .

But this is how Barrys games would look . . .

-2 yards
4 yards
1 yards
-1 yards
3 yards
-1 yards
3 yards
50 yards

True but OC had to worry about Sanders after all you don't put up career yardage as he did by not being a great back add to that he was the focal point for defenses week in and week out. I don't think anyone lost sleep over Hambrick.

As I said, I wasn't comparing Hambrick to Sanders.

Sanders was a dynamic and exciting runner . . .

But . . . if I had a chance to start my very own football team from scratch, and could pick from any running back in the history of the NFL . . . Barry Sanders wouldn't be in my top 20 of choices.

I'd rather have a reliable back who will get you positive yards consistantly . . . as opposed to a guy who averages 1.5 yards per carry for a game before breaking one for 60 yards, and skewing his overall ypc numbers.

2nd and short, as well as 3rd and short are an offenses best friend.

He would be in my top 20 but not my top 5.

I never understood why Hambrick never made it big in teen horror movies. If a director ever needed someone who was perfect at stumbling on cue, he would have been perfectly casted.

He would trip over blades of grass far too often. Despite being big and fast he was more of a finess back. Not a good combo, see Ron Dayne.

I couldnt have said it better!

He didn't trip. The Turf Monsters would come up and get him. It was their fault.

Blades of Grass LMAO

I once saw him get tackled by a finger.. yes, one finger of a defenders hand... I know someone else saw this...

Which time? That could have been any number of games he played in.

I remember a 4th and 1 play against the Patriots where he fell down in the backfield as a linebacker was running towards him.

It truly amazes me that the Cowboys made the playoffs in 03 with QC as the QB and Hambone as the runningback. Its really quite remarkable looking back on it.

Hambrick admitted as such in a local interview when he was with the Cardinals.

And a #1 ranked defense that year. I know we did not get the sacks or turnovers but 3rd down we were ranked #1 and points allowed #2

True enough young man. True enough.

For a 250lb rb he got tackled by more cb's and safeties on the first hit than I have ever seen. IMO he didn't have the heart and didn't like contact.

It's messed up the way Parcells got Hambrick to lose all that weight.. Parcells has to understand players play better at the weight their confortable at. I believe Hambrick could been more productive if he didn't lose all that weight.

A Troy Hambrick thread? Really?

When can we expect a Curvin Richards thread? How 'bout some love for Terrance Flagler?
