I don't think Crayton is a lock, he sucked at the end of the season after coming back from injury. If he plays like that, he's gone.

Rember Quincy Morgan, Peerless Price, Antonio Bryant....if you don't produce consistently, say goodbye.

He did have a broken foot, so no matter how much the XRAY says you are fine and dandy, your brain has got to be whispering a little something different in your ear.

Crayton would have to absolutely suck - which I don't think there is any chance he will, to not make the team.

I think you're pretty spot on. Crayton may end up losing his place on the roster. Green will take his punt return slot barrring any unforseen occurences (fumblitis?) and has a chance to take his #3 WR postition. Parcells joking with Green about his throwing ability may foretell using him as a gadget player also, something that should shock a fomer QB like Crayton.

Crayton's a quality player and has shown he can play in the NFL. He may end up being cut. Great for the Cowboys that they finally have the type of depth that other teams will scramble for their scraps rather than vice versa.

I agree, but I would hate to lose Crayton when it appears he has the ability to become a quality player for us. If the ball in thrown at him, he catches it. You cannot say that about most receivers that are not starters. Most of the criticisms I heard Parcells speak of concerning him were about special teams and how he carried the football.

We have cut other talented players and had those scraps turn out becoming good elsewhere, like Jimmy Smith, Orande Gadsden and Willie Jackson. I would as soon not have it happen again unless he is just dreadful all the way around and whomever beats him out is just incredible.

I think Dallas will go 5 WR on the team and expect the top 4 to be TO,Glenn,Crayton and Green. The others will battle for the 1 remaining spot.

The 5th WR will be a developmental type and likely will not be active on game day, so I think special teams ability will not be a huge consideration. I think Jamaica Rector will get the #5 spot.

Terrell Owens
Terry Glenn
Patrick Crayton
Skyler Green
Jamaica Rector

There is no way that Patrick Crayton doesn't make this team. If he is cut, it leaves the team with no experienced backup receivers.

I like Miles Austin, Tom Crowder, and Terrance Cooper... But what they have to prove who can help the team the most...

Miles Austin:: He is someone that could be a potential starter in the future, but he has to prove he can play special teams, he have to know how to be a solid wrap-up tackler, he need to know how to return kicks and punts, and he need to learn how to contribute in reverse plays also...

Tom Crowder:: Is a fast wide receiver, he proved last preseason he can be a force on deep routes, he was a force on special teams also blocking a punt, he has to be a demon on kick-return and punt return and if he can prove that he could stay consistent he'll make the team. He needs to light up the board in NFL Europe. Crowder needs to show some in NFL Europe to help his chances at making the team.

Terrance Cooper:: I like him but, he has to show he could be consistent as a wide receiver, Cooper is a hell of a special teams player, he has to show he could block punts too, and he have to probably show the Cowboys this year he has more speed then indicated in the last past 2 years he played with the Cowboys....

Even with all of the improvements I set for these players somebody going to be on the pratice squad so that leaves me with two players that could possibly make the team.

TERRANCE COOPER

and

TOM CROWDER

Honestly I think Miles Austin will be on the practice squad unless he shows starter talent in preseason on special teams and out on offense at catching the ball.

I'm agreeing with your statement.. Interesting.

One thing, it's "Copper" :D

I agree. I think there is a good chance that Dallas will bring back some of the projects WR after the final cuts are made and place them on the practice squad but I don't see us letting Crayton go.

I agree and hope that Crayton's not cut, but I wouldn't be stunned if it did happen.

I can't see Parcells carrying a 4th WR who doesn't play ST and will almost never see the field.

Doesn't matter too much, this is a draft priority next year. We will need fresh, star-quality meat to develop next year.

No way, have to disagree. Crayton will make the roster. He has great size, good speed, ridiculous hands, and can find the creases in the defense. You guys can talk about Crayton not playing that well at the end of the season but if you go back and watch the first games of the season, he was VERY good and REALLY developing into a big threat as #3.
You need your #3 to be more of a possession type WR anyway. None of the rookies will beat him out. He may not get as much PT as he was getting first of last year since we'll use more 2xTE sets but he's much too good to give away. Plus he's our only WR with any experience that's under 31 yrs old.
