Writers in Houston said No Cowboys will get into HOF.

It was John McClain, a Houston sportswriter that gets a vote. He said that during some sportswriters meetings/convention, some voter(s) from San Fran said that they would NEVER vote a Cowboy to the HOF, EVER - regardless of the player's qualifications, no matter who it was.

He said this on 610AM sports radio. The announcers, Lance Zierline and John Granado pretended to be "shocked".

I think this report is a by product of the Houston voter for the Hall of Fame saying last year on his show that the San Francisco voter will never vote for Cowboys.

Any voter who says that he'd never vote for any member of any team should have his vote stripped...

How are you gonna make an argument that the leading rusher in the history of the freakin' league does not belong in the HOF??

Nope, saying that shows a clear bias that should disqualify that individual from ever again being allowed to vote in the selection process...

If none of the Triplets ever makes the HOF, it will rob that body any credibility... indeed, I'd argue if ANY of the Triplets is ultimately denied entry (I can understand making Irvin wait a year or two or three, to "punish" him for his assorted off-field problems), then the HOF is a joke...

If you guys think there is no bias against the Cowboys then I feel sorry for you.

Just look at all those players from the steelers that got in and look at all the Cowboys....

If Micheal Irvin doesnt go in then there is Bias. I dont care what people say he was a play maker his whole life. He was part of the Dynasty.

I hate this Bias against the BOys:mad:

The same way they make the argument that the leading receiver in the history of the freakin'g league (at one time) does not belong in the HOF.

Yep. The HOF is a joke. It is not just deserving Cowboys who have been slighted. There are other great players that haven't sniffed the HOF. The whole thing about receivers is rediculous. They keep out great ones for so long and then use that as a precedent. Well, so and so had to wait 12 years to get in, so the next one has to wait. That is just stupid.

Aikman has the stats. This is just one example:

Troy ranks #22 on the career yardage list. He has 182 fewer career yards than Steve Young who ranks #21. Young played in 169 games in 15 years, which is an average of 196.0 yards a game. Aikman played in 165 games in 12 years, which is an average of 199.6 yards a game. Young is in the HOF.

Completely ridiculous, isn't it??

I don't think Comcast services the Houston area...

Gotta check that out.

I know Time Warner does tho.

That said, does your friend remember what show it was on?

Comcast services part of the Woodlands area and a few other outlying suburb areas have a scattering of it but; 99% isTime Warner

Yep.

If all the former Cowboys and former Commanders are excluded again I say we gather both together and make a run to Canton for the next induction. Maybe a joint protest from obvious rivals will open some eyes.

I Know ...I'm an Eagles fan! But I would be dishonest if I didn't tell you that ... Tony Dorsett was my most favorite NFL player ever (Walter Payton was a close second); he just happen to be a former Cowboy ...this is unquestionably a HOFer ...

Tony Dorsett, a 5-11, 192-pound running back from the University of Pittsburgh, already was a celebrity by the time he joined the Dallas Cowboys as their first-round draft pick in 1977. A four-time All-America at Pittsburgh, Dorsett also won the 1976 Heisman Trophy.
Just as he had done at Pitt, he took the National Football League by storm in his rookie 1977 season. Dorsett rushed for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns and was a virtually unanimous choice for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Dorsett, who was born April 7, 1954, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, rushed for more than 1,000 yards eight of his first nine seasons – the only miss was the strike-shortened 1982 campaign which, ironically, saw him win his only NFC rushing championship.
His top production came in 1981, when he rushed for 1,646 yards and added 325 yards on 32 receptions. Dorsett spent the first 11 seasons of his 12-year, 173-game NFL career with the Cowboys before being traded to the Denver Broncos for a fifth-round draft pick in 1988. He led the Broncos in rushing with 703 yards in 1988 but injuries prevented him from playing after that first campaign in Denver.
For his career, Dorsett rushed for 12,739 yards. He totaled 16,326 yards from scrimmage. He scored 546 points on 91 touchdowns, 77 by rushing, 13 by receiving and one on a fumble return. Dorsett, a three-time All-NFC pick, who was All-Pro in 1981 and a veteran of four Pro Bowls, played in five NFC championship games and Super Bowls XII and XIII. He had impressive post-season statistical totals -- 1,383 rushing yards and 1,786 yards from scrimmage in 17 games. In 1982 during a Monday night game against the Minnesota Vikings, Dorsett set a record that may some day be tied but will never be broken – a 99-yard touchdown run.

That's the way I remember it too Dan. The San Fran voter is Ira Miller I believe and to my knowledge he has not responded to any of us who have written the HOF voters.

Personally I think Troy will have no problem making the HOF this year. Irvin I think he deserves it but I think his off the field issues will be the reason he won't make it. Wright I think makes it

I wrote the HOF about this incident Bear. There was no response.

We also had a writer in NYC (Vic Ditrani, sp?) who said that he would never vote for someone he thought wasn't as good as Harry Carson until Harry Carson got in. The vote shouldn't be about agendas. To him it is. No response from the HOF.

We also had a writer from Detroit (Jerry Green), challenge one of our members to a fist fight. Not just any member either, an Officer in the US Navy. No response from the HOF.

None of these writers have lost their vote.

Green wussed out when Manster called his bluff :D

What I was saying about Tory Aikman stats were that he didnt have super numbers for passing. Take for instance Joe Namaths passing, or Steve Young in that super he helped 49ers win. They were big passing numbers, whereas for Troy, he played like the team wanted him too, mostly running with Emmitt Smith, and that huge offensive line.

Then, when you add in what this guy said, about the reporter, that shows biased, just like the judges said they would never vote for Michael Irwin, # 88, true, its not suppose to be anything held against him outside of football. Look at Lawrence Taylor for example, all drugs, etc, issues he had. So, there is biased on Cowboys, and it needs to be addressed by us Cowboy fans gett ing together and having a ballot and sending to Jerry Jones, and the Hall of Fame, and to the owners for sports writers.
