I see us drafting a WR in the 1st Round to replace Owens down the road, so who do we keep?

1st Rounder-Yes
Owens-Yes
Glenn?
Crayton?
Hurd?
Austin?
Stanback?

Do we bring Glenn back as injuries are a concern, but there is the cap hit
Do we resign Crayton?
Is Hurd good enough to keep?
Will Austin be more than a returner?
Will Stanback be anything?

Thoughts?

Glenn's cap hit is very small next year. The only factor in determining whether he comes back is if he wants to.

Austin and Stanback are locks. Crayton will be an interesting decision, that'll depend on how much he's going to demand. He doesn't deserve a large contract.

Hurd will be here if we don't do all of the following: (1) keep Crayton, (2) draft a WR, and (3) keep Glenn.

Glenn is the only one on the bubble. If he shows something in the playoffs he might be back. If not he will be cut/retired. I would like the Cowboys to draft Wr Hardy, big and fast. And a pure speed WR in the later rounds, someone with Wes Welker ability.

This WR Corps has proven it can dominate. If we can keep it intact at least another year, with a healthy Terry Glenn, then I think we should.

All our young WRs have too much upside to get rid of.

Now, if Terry decides this is it for him, then by all means, draft a big time WR.

1st Rounder-Yes

Owens -Yes

Glenn - depends...kinda sounds like if he plays this year it will be hopefully for the playoff run and I think he may be done

Crayton - he makes some plays. I would keep him.

Hurd - I dont know if he does enough... I like him though

Austin - I see alot of promise in him

Stanback - I hope to see alot of promise in him

By my count that is 7 WR's and Stanback is not one yet... so why get rid of anyone.

Glenn has elected to rehab as opposed to season ending surgery. However, he has to have microfracture surgery if he has any hopes of playing, long term or possibly even being right after football. That is a season ending surgery even if he has it right after the season. To me, that kinda says it all. I just don't see him being in the picture in 08. To be honest, I'd be very surprised if he even elects to continue playing after this year. I think he is hoping to come back just before the playoffs and try to help make a run for the title. If we were not the team we are this year, I think he would already have retired. JMO of course.

I think the Cowboys want to bring Crayton back but it all depends on how much he wants in today's market. He's got great hands and always seems be able find an open spot. But team's don't fear him and playing beside TO lessens the coverage he faces.

With Glenn it all depends how he comes back. Remember this isn't the first time Glenn got injured, and he came back strong. We'll have to watch, but I think Glenn is on the same value level as TO.

Crayton is another questionmark to me. I like Crayton, but from what other people are saying it sounds like other teams might out bid us for him. Quite frankly, I'm not too sure. I think Crayton is a gamble. He has moments of brilliance, but for a number two, romo sure hasn't been passing it a lot to him lately; It's been the TO or Whitten show. Could be injury related.

I like Austin; he is fast -- duh. If the cowboys ever do some of that 5 wide stuff, I'd like to have TO, Glenn, Whitten, Crayton, and Austin. I would have austin just run as fast as he can down the field. TO is the physical guy, Whitten is the TE we love, while Glenn has made some of the most beautiful catches I have seen a cowboys reciever make, keeping his feet in bounds. I also think if we go with this set, a few times, we can get glenn back into the game. I don't think teams would cover him like they used to due to his injury, so he could get some receptions that way. Rotating MB3 and Hurd in and out of the 5 wide could be effective too.

Hurd I also like, but out of three, I haven't got to see as much from him. I'd pick Austin over him. We should take Crayton over Austin or Hurd, if we can aford him since he is more proven.

:) Also, lets not forget, we might want to pick up a Roy Williams or Randy Moss in the offseason, and then there is drafting. We have to wait and see. I wish that Romo would spread it out more than have just a favorite guy, so we can tell.

:D Yeah that's right too. I forgot to think about Glenn having to get more surgery, even though I previously wondered if he would have to get it right after this season, and thus not play in 08. I hope we win a Superbowl, so he can retire happily as a Cowboy.

I see Glenn no longer around. Glenn will retire and Crayton won't be resigned if they can somehow find a way to pry Fitz from AZ. Hurd/Austin have one more year/ Stanback is in the same boat.

I don't see them bringing a rookie or a middle of the road vet.

I say trade a 1 for Fitz and use the other on Ray Rice

I think Glenn will be done when the season is done I would stay with TO, Crayton and Hurd for sure. Draft a WR and have Stanback and Austin compete for the final slot.

I wish we knew more about TG's injury. I'll try to ask around and find out if he can recover from microsurgery and still make it to camp before the season starts next year. Not sure I'll get an answer as we don't know where he's missing cartilage or how much.

Does he *have* to get it? I thought the prognosis was that the most recent surgery could delay the microfracture surgery until he called it a career or even possibly eliminate the need for it altogether if he was lucky. Either way, I hadn't heard that microfracture would be required at the end of this season.

I think we should draft a top five WR and then get rid of him after two or three years.

Oh wait, that's what the Lions do.

We will be very lucky if Glenn can contribute this season.....so I really doubt we seem him next year.

I think the school of thought here is that he is not getting any younger. The longer he waits to have it done, the more difficult it is to come back from. His contract is basically up after this year for the Cowboys so I don't know that he could get another contract worth anything in his physical condition. I think he has to have it done this off-season. I don't know, I guess he could wait but the problem is not going to go away. I doubt the Cowboys will continue to pay him big money to play a few games a season. That just doesn't make much sense.

that is such a tough call because I like all of our wr's ....but, we need a speedster 4.3 flat type of guy
