Xavier Woods

Heath is 29, he won’t be here forever..I’m patiently waiting lol. I waited for Church to be gone and I can do same for Heath

Aikman gave Jeff Heath some props yesterday. Anybody chuckle to hear it, knowing how much some on the forum hate the guy?

It’s nice that Aikman gave Heath props. And mind you, I don’t dislike Heath.

But the lack of playmaking at the safety spot is holding the defense back.

You need guys like Jeff Heath on a team. He would be excellent depth or a great guy to have for sub packages.

It’s a problem when he is your best safety.

Again, it’s not hating on Heath. But having a great safety on the defense would take it to the next level.

Typical talent over evaluation. Average pair at best.

Based on our resources.....I use to think ET was a sure bet next offseason. The only way he gets here now is if he's cheap and on a one year deal. He's not getting a long term deal here.

This is the thing......in the salary cap era.....you can't afford to have pro bowlers at every position. Some positions you are going to have to simply take "solid" at some positions. You have to ask yourself is Woods and Heath good enough.......I'm leaning towards yes.

This is hilarious you mention this because I was laughing to myself about this very thing. I loved hearing Heath get props, Heath's way underrated.

If Woods keeps playing like he has been, I don’t think they would sign ET this offseason. Hypothetically speaking though, I think Woods would revert back to the role he played during his rookie season as a slot guy and Heath would start at SS opposite ET.
I agree that we shouldn't sign ET even if our current safeties performances regress for the rest of the season. If that's the case, I'd rather draft one. Two main reasons why. First, when an NFL player reaches a certain age and he get hurt, he usually stays hurt (and ET's missed a lot of time the past few seasons). Second, we're going to have to pay a lot money in couple of seasons to either resign or extend players.

Definitely fair point, whether or not I agree whether good or not certain, do like your initial point though. Would honestly like to see a bit more of a fair distribution between offense and defense salary cap wise, were to invested in the oline.

Well that's one thing I was thinking about........we went out there and played without Tyron and Fredericks who are two of our highest paid players. I'm fine with using picks on that line but I'm not sure if its wise to spend big money when re-signing them. I don't think this team should have 3 high priced linemen and you can count 4 with Collins.

Let's just just say, purely hypothetical, and dont hate me for bringing it up, but if we did sign a certain FA FS in the offseason, would Woods or Heath start opposite ET?

I think they all 3 play. Heath is actually phenomenal when he plays that hybrid LB/SS role. He flies around and makes a considerable amount of plays at or behind the LOS. I've lost count of how many times a linebacker has missed a tackle in the backfield only to have Heath come in and stick and fill behind them. He can be a liability in space, but I think in a Cam Chancellor role (no he's not Cam, but in that ROLE), he can be a very good player for this team.

Woods is balling. Woods and Jeff "hitman" Heath are becoming quite the duo. I love how well all of the defensive backs are playing. Woods is coming into his own and the sky is the limit. Woods will be a difference maker in the victory against Brees.
Heath should come off the field on 3rd downs. He’s awful in coverage

Frazier not part of the S equation. After starting the first two games with Woods out, his play time has evaporated.

4 defensive snaps in the last 4 games.

I love how young our guys are. It's like we've stripped away some of, if not all of the people who were here for typical Cowboys chokes and heartache.
