She really tortured that thing. Why don't they just sing it straight? Stop trying to impress us with your "range" and just sing.

A lot of performers try to jazz up and incorporate their own style into the National Anthem and it can lead to a terrible rendition.

They get off key and botch the words. One of the worst performances of the National Anthem was by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith a few years ago at the Indianapolis 500.

With all the vocal abuse his chords have suffered he doesn't have the pipes for the National Anthem. It was DREADFUL! All he did was scream.

I don't understand why every one of these fools have to screw up our National Anthem.

They just don't get it. Not a damn one of gets it. It's not them. It's not about them. It's about OUR National Anthem. In that moment, the star is the Country. It's about the song. It's not about you singing it idiot.

They just don't get it.

You are expecting way, way, way too much of these utter fools.

Ok fellow americans...I am not American am an Arab..and you do have a very beautiful anthem..why do singers and performers try to put their own spin on it every time they do it in SB or WS or NBA finals?

It's so pretentious really

Just sing it as it is...believe me ..it's beautiful the way it is

BS. This is the National Anthem not some pop song. There is no such think as a politically correct way to sing national anthem. I don't know where some people get such ridiculous ideas. You sing it as it was written 196 years ago.

all 5 verses...or 3...how ever many f scott key wrote in the original poem?

Who botched it? I didn't see it. Was in transit to my nephew's house.

look at the page before someone has the youtube of it up.

what time of the video does she screw up? I'd like to skip past all the yodeling.

The guy who did the Anthem for the GB @ Chicago game should be the designated singer for every Superbowl.

That guy was a total BA about it.

I think its the Whitney Houston Syndrome. I think the pop singers all try to top (show off) what they grew up seeing Whitney do so well.

This is right on. After Whitney's performance and maybe a few other good renditions, every singer that gets a chance at it seems to want to make their own mark.

I thought Aguilera tried to do too much with the song and it's a shame she messed up the words (I actually didn't even notice to be honest), but IMO she is still one of the best singers in the world. I kinda feel bad for her. The American public and media aren't so kind to those who make mistakes on such a big big stage.

I muted the TV and sang it myself. Better that than listen to the washed up cow butcher it.
