Hate to belabor Dez stuff but since this was a stance some took here, I thought I’d at least report the article for board consumption

But the Cowboys waited more than a month into free agency to cut him. Why? We really don’t know. The Cowboys have talked around that, but again, if they weren’t going to keep Bryant on a pay cut, there was no real reason to wait other than indecision. By April 13, the bulk of NFL free agency is done. Cutting Bryant late wasn’t a help to the Cowboys, who couldn’t use the cap savings on any top-shelf free agents, and it sure didn’t help Bryant.

dez put dez in a bad position. if anything jones is known to be "overly loyal" and hold on too long. so did jones just change all of a sudden or did dez do something to warrant it.

Regardless of all that, didn't he still get a 3 year 21 Million offer from the Ravens?? He wasn't going to get more than that by any team regardless when he was cut this year.. Sounds to me Dez hurt himself when he rejected that offer.. That's not on Jones.

But...but...Dez is a "number 1" receiver. I thought teams would be lining up around the block to sign a player of his talent if the Cowboys released him.

By several accounts Dez had an offer from Baltimore but overplayed his hand. He's the reason he's still unemployed, not the Cowboys.

I agree that waiting a month into free agency kinda screwed Dez over but that wasn't the intention. I think it just took that long for the coaches to convince Jerry to pull the trigger. This decision wasn't a foregone conclusion at the end of the season.

I mean, I don't think Dez did anything between the beginning of FA and when he ultimately got cut after the peak FA period was over.

Jerry is still fond of Dez and still feels Dez can sign on with another team and be productive. The move in releasing Dez tells me that Jerry is listening to what others in the organization namely McCray have to say when it comes to personnel
