It's not as if that wasn't warranted at the time. Tony Romo doesn't need a coach and the guys who did never seemed to be getting enough of it.

JG still has this job because of Tony, and he's going to keep it for a long, long time because of Dak's development.

I would say the driving force that got Dak to the Cowboys was about half luck and half coaching/scouting. We were lucky that none of the other teams in the NFL knew about Dak's amazing skill-set. We were lucky we went 4-12 last year, which got out coaches to the Senior Bowl. We were lucky other teams moved up and around to take all of the QBs that were rated as the best pro prospects so Dak was still available when our 4th round comp pick came around.

But, what wasn't luck was actually selecting him with that pick because the Cowboys thought he could have a future in the NFL. All of the other teams had the opportunity to select him and had passed. And it certainly wasn't luck putting the OL together in previous years, cobbling a decent defense together, then drafting Zeke, which helped Dak show the world what he could do coming out of the chute.

I give dak credit for the chemistry, as it wasnt here last year at all, and wasnt the same in 2014 , even though 2014 did have chemistry.
I gotta agree, it's completely different. This feels like there is no limit, it may not hapwn this season but I am confident there is a Super Bowl in the Cowboys near future and a great deal of it is the intangibles that Dak brings.

How much of the hard core scouting does Jerry Jones do? Has he been reduced to just a figurehead now?

Would Dak even be playing if Kellen Moore didn't break his leg. There is luck through the entire process of Dak but who cares. He's a great kid with a ton of potential and showing it

You have the wonder how many teams even had Dak on their draft boards. The second article mentions that only a few teams attended his pro day workout. He was only linked to a few teams like Dallas, Denver, Arizona, and San Francisco during the predraft process.

As the article points out, nobody, even teams that were interested in drafting him, thought he would be ready to START as a rookie. Even Dallas viewed him as a project pick that would take several seasons of coaching up to be able to run a NFL pro style offense.
