whoa dude!
roger is a hall of famer, multiple time pro bowler and super bowl qb.
maybe tony will get there, but don't deny my boyhood hero roger the dodger.

I have great respect for Roger Staubach. I met him one time when both of us were younger. But I think Romo will surpass him in Cowboys annals if he stays healthy.

After the week 2 loss to the G-Men, I announced that I felt that the Cowboys needed to start looking for a suitable replacement for Romo in the offseason. I also stated that if he proved me wrong, then I would admit that I was indeed wrong.

Well, here I am with this post admitting I was dead wrong.

Obviously, the team hasn't 'done anything', yet. However, Romo has proven to me that he can get it done in December and beyond and I feel that way even though the team is 2-2 so far in December with one game left.

I just feel that Romo's play after that week 2 loss, particularly this December, warrants an admission of error. At the time I felt that Romo turned the ball over too much, had lost his ability to anticipate on throws, and was not a good leader.

Again, that's obviously incorrect now. He has the second best INT rate (next to Aaron Rodgers) and hasn't really fumbled the ball much this year. His anticipation came back once Miles Austin was named the starter. And he's been a much more noticeable vocal leader of the team. I didn't think he had any of these qualities in him.

But, I was dead wrong.

So I would like to be up front about my errors in judgement and could perfectly understand if my credibility towards my opinions on QB's are questioned. I'd also like to mention that posters like theogt and casmith were correct while I was obviously wrong. And if I forgot to mention anybody else that disputed my claims, then I apologize.

Lastly, feel free to bump this thread since I want it made clear that I am a man of my word and that when I said I would post that I was dead wrong on Romo that I meant it and I do not want this thread to get lost in the shuffle.

Sincerely

Rich Hunt (aka Yakuza Rich)
This takes me back to that ridiculous statement Jacobs made, during the offseason about how Romo, wasn't that great of a pocket passer.

Oh how much of a ******* he is now that Dallas, is in the playoffs and his team isn't thanks in part to that *** whoopin that Carolina gave them.

The defense, and the Romo-led offense are the reason they're in the playoffs Jacobs, can now put that in his pipe and smoke it but the question will now be where will they be in the playoffs, and how long will they last.

As far as Garrett goes I think the problem is that we should've expected some growing pains with a young coach who had never called plays before. But we really didn't get that in 2007, probably due to the talent we had and the rest of the league having to get used to him. I also think that success stunted his growth as well. With that, I think the past 2 years we've finally seen those growing pains come around.

I wouldn't shed too many tears if he left, but I can understand keeping him around as the O-Coordinator and hope that he'l work thru those growing pains. That being said, I don't want him as a HC in 2010. He's nowhere near ready at this point.

Seriously?

I see you starting another thread about being wrong about EVER considering letting Garrett go.

Let Garrett go? Start Romo with another offense/OC? Setback to say the least.

Clearly Jason Garret is nowhere near ready to be the head coach of a football team. Many owners and GMs around the NFL agree with that. For me, he still has to proive that he is a capable playoff-calliber offensive coordinator first.

And that means that as an offensive coordinator Garrett needs to do better - much better - NOW! I agree with you that growing-pains are expected, but if this team wants to win its division NOW and have playoff success NOW then there is no more time left for Jason Garrett to grow.

If there is anyone at Valley Ranch who needs to put in more time that everyone else this week, and during the playoffs, it's Garrett. The horrendous play calling inside the 2-minutes of halvesl needs to stop NOW! The rediculously predictable runs called in short-yardage situations need to change NOW! Not just the balance, but also the INTEGRATION, between run and pass needs to be coordinated NOW! The proper use of his offensive personeel needs to be fugured out and maximized NOW!

Clearly??

  • How about we hold the players accountable for not executing a play? More than once have we "poorly" executed and killed a drive. More than once have we penalized ourselves out of a drive. To add, that has happened AFTER a big play - hence the play being negated.
  • How about we look at the players that are dropping easy passes? Roy is killing more than a few drives. So are some others. How much better would Garrett look if they caught the ball and led to a few more plays on the drives?
You cant hang that on Garrett and you certainly CANNOT say "clearly" based on my two points mentioned above.

Garrett is not only doing a fine job. He is well above average.
Garrett will not only be HC of the Dallas Cowboys... he will be locked in to a LONG TERM DEAL.

Whoa there, turbo. ;)

If Tony is even mentioned in the same sentence with Roger, we will all be very happy if we're not already!
