Looks like Shawn Springs will land with Eagles

The Eagles sent out a press release stating that Shawn Springs was headed to Philadelphia for a visit and would meet with reporters today. That's a pretty clear indication that they expect to sign the ex-Commanders cornerback, who could be moving to safety to replace Brian Dawkins.

It's too bad Springs didn't end up in Dallas. It would have been a nice story for Ron's son to finish his career at Valley Ranch, and Springs would have filled the void left by trading Anthony Henry to the Lions.

Springs will turn 34 next week, but if you don't think he can still play, you might want to watch the tape of him shutting down T.O. for the first half before getting hurt in the Commanders' win over the Cowboys.

Damn, What does that leave us with now? Draft? Anyone else in FA?

The Draft probably. I knew we weren't going to sign many Free Agents, but this one made too much sense not to. IMO.

My first thought was, it must be the money. But the Eagles already have a ton tied up in Samuel, and aren't known for being very generous.

He must be asking for a lot more than you give a guy that will give you 8 games a year.

Roy Williams cursed you Hos

predictions are all downhill from there

We had been trying to make a move for between 2 and 3 years. The Lions just waited until we were desperate enough.

The Roy Williams stuff wasn't predictions though, neither were the coaching hires I got right. If I am predicting something I say it is just that.

I stay ambivalent. I do wish he had gone to the NFC-not. His age and probably contract demands kept him away from us.

I'm going to guess that one of the reasons he visited places like New England, New Orleans (If he ever got there) and Philly wasn't really as much about money, as he's not going to get a ton anyway, as it was about having a chance to start.

In those 3 places he could start at corner, or safety, most likely right from the start.

In Dallas he wasn't necassarily going to be brought in to start but more so to be a quality depth guy who they could use here and there in different ways in different packages.

That's the biggest reason I never really thought he'd come here is because I think he probably realised that there wasn't going to be as good a shot to start here as there is other places.

We will most likely draft someone in the middle rounds and pick up a vet after June 1st cuts.

Id rather just go young. Draft more corners. Whatever formula that was used last year to draft corners, just do that again.

Has Chris McCalister just lost it. I'm suprised their hasn't been a bigger market for him yet. I think we'll still add a veteran corner. springs, I'm sure signed for a good amount of coin.

The best safeties are going to go in round two - there are no 'studs' per se this year.
