Jerry: .. and you will like it!
Jerry: .. and you will like it!
You only ever seem to jump on the case of the person retaliating, and never the person who threw the first stone. This especially seems to be the case with you when the person who throws the first stone is a kool-aid drinker, and the person retaliating is critical of the team. You are transparent in your motives.I’m not calling you out. I just don’t see why people can’t be more civil towards each other on this website. There are some here that make everything conflict driven. (Not saying you)
It’s ok to vehemently disagree. But we should all try to get along. We are all Cowboys fans.
I don’t think that people should make things personal regardless of the position they are advocating. Disagree? Fine! But I dint think anyone should be making personal attacks here. It’s unwarranted. You only ever seem to jump on the case of the person retaliating, and never the person who threw the first stone. Jerry should of just gone out and gotten a proven guy versus giving guys a chance. Try that with your company's and see how that works out....OK so Schotty is not even being paid 3.5million a year. and we want Jones to cough up 16m or more for Tomlin. NOPE will never happen. The Dallas Cowboys are easily the most profitable sports franchise in the US and close to being so in the entire world.
And yet this organization with a world class stadium, world class team facilities, and the highest value in the NFL is paying its head coach and assistant coaches in the bottom of the league’s pay scale. When there is no cap on coaches pay, why is this happening? When it comes to coaching, you usually get what you pay for.
It doesn’t take a football expert to know that to win a championship in the NFL, or even get close, it requires an outstanding head coach and staff. Knowing that, how much does this franchise value its coaches? Surely we are hiring the best possible candidates, and willing to spend at the same high level as our facilities to get the best coach that gives us the best chance to win, right?
Brian Schottenheimer was the guy our owner believes is worthy of leading the storied Dallas Cowboys to a championship. A guy with no experience at any level as a HC, and no other team was even interested in interviewing.
How much is Schotty valued by this organization ? His $4.5 million salary puts him right at the bottom of pay for non-interim NFL head coaches. The bengals Zac Taylor reportedly makes what Schotty makes. The only NFL HC making less is the browns HC Todd Monken. Even when Mike McCarthy was here - a man with a SB ring on his resume - was never even the highest paid NFC East HC, lol.
So knowing it requires a strong, talented head coach to win big in this league, not only did Jerry pick a guy no one else wanted to interview, he pays whoever he hires chicken feed.
There are several old sayings that apply here:
We’ve had six different head coaches in the 21st century. Two of those six had great resumes and a proven track record of success in this league.(Parcells and Big Mac) The other four - Campo, Wade, Garrett and now Schotty - are not serious hires.
- You get what you pay for.
- Whatever you value most, you pay for.
- If winning is the goal, you must be willing to pay for it.
You get what you pay for.

I’m sorry, but I still disagree with this. Sometimes you hire coaches who are new and don’t have the same pay scale as some overrated retreads. Sure, some of these guys are doing okay, but to me, Sean Payton and both Harbaughs make a lot of money without having done anything big in a long time, and that goes for others too. Sometimes you hire new coaches because you think they have potential, and it’s not about paying them less\,The Dallas Cowboys are easily the most profitable sports franchise in the US and close to being so in the entire world.

I don't think he has to do with the salary given, the Jones Family wants that so called puppet where they are the ones running the team not the HC.The Dallas Cowboys are easily the most profitable sports franchise in the US and close to being so in the entire world.

Couldn't Agree more.We get it, the organization sucks. You’ve told us pretty much daily and many others hourly say the same thing. I don’t get why people enjoy it so much. Try and enjoy the games win, lose or tie. It’s ok to complain. Lord knows there’s a lot to complain about but doing it every day and others in every thread creates such a depressing forum.

disagree all owners/CEOS/GMs do RUN THE DANG TEAM. they assemble it and the coaches implement schemes, practices, gameplans. gameday actives, and run GAMES!!I don't think he has to do with the salary given, the Jones Family wants that so called puppet where they are the ones running the team not the HC.
Parker was given a chance. He's failed miserably. How many seasons are you saying we should give him?Problem is "love him for it- or hate him for it. Jerry loves to give people he likes chances nobody else would give them. Jerry said this when Schotty was hired " he finally get's his chance" A chance nobody else would give him. Same with Parker. Give him a chance. An up and coming defensive geniusJerry should of just gone out and gotten a proven guy versus giving guys a chance. Try that with your company's and see how that works out....
Agree 100%....... that should be reserved for gatherings like Thanksgiving day family dinners.Trust me, I can fling insults with the best of them, but this board is not the place for that.
Parker has not looked good as a DC so far. That’s pretty much a given.Parker was given a chance. He's failed miserably. How many seasons are you saying we should give him?
This is a solid post. Jerry has built some great teams in the past 30 years. Some of those teams had bad luck, some had bad matchups, some poor officiating. ( Dez caught it twice. )disagree all owners/CEOS/GMs do RUN THE DANG TEAM. they assemble it and the coaches implement schemes, practices, gameplans. gameday actives, and run GAMES!!
We do realize that this is a corporation it is a business whether you don't think it is or not this is a corporation that is run just like a corporation and you damn right you have to answer to your boss The owners are the boss The GM is the boss extension and so on and so forth there is nothing different than any other team runs in except for Jerry's also the GM and other than that I'm watching a lot of these regular GMS fall on their damn faces some of them have not even won a game this year some of them have only won one game and that was against the Cowboys.. lmao
I think it’s delusional to keep pushing this old narrative that they only hire “puppets.” It’s funny because many of these so-called puppets have worked for other top teams. Mike McCarthy has been with the Packers, Steelers, and Cowboys—three of the best organizations in the league.
So is he a puppet? Was Bill Parcells a puppet? Jimmy Johnson? These are not puppets, and neither are the other people assume are.
Maybe Jerry is just looking for the next Sean Payton type. That was the mistake with hiring Jason Garrett, he thought he was creating a homegrown ex-player turned coach. It happens. He stuck with it too long, sure, but I believe coaches need at least four years to prove themselves. Constantly replacing them doesn’t work, and plenty of similar hires have been made before. Nick Sirianni, both Harbaughs, where did they come from? They were once in the same situation as Garrett, Brian Schottenheimer, or now Christian Parker.
The Jaguars did the same with Liam Cohen, never heard of him before, just one year as an OC, but they saw something, and so far, it’s fine. That doesn’t mean it won’t fall apart next year. Nobody wanted Kellen Moore ; they thought Jerry was crazy, assuming he’d be another Garrett. But then he goes to the Eagles, wins a ring, gets hired by the Saints, and suddenly people want him back.
Now Jerry’s being called wrong, and people are backtracking without realizing it. He could’ve kept Moore and promoted him right here. You all would have lost your damn minds!!
What does that mean it means that no matter what they do you will criticize it You just like to be negative this place wants to bash Jerry and the Jones family because they think somehow it's run so different from everyone else that is why they have failed and no it's not they have just simply failed.. Seen the same thing go on with some of the other franchises like the Browns the Texans The Who were used to be the Oilers who are now the Titans who have done nothing with all these changes moving Rees resurrected these teams I mean the Jets haven't done anything and I mean for the Cowboys being in this division really the Giants in Washington can't overcome Jerry's weak poorly ran franchise?
Maybe you should revisit how rough Sean Payton’s early career was as an offensive coordinator. He struggled, had issues, and even had play-calling duties taken away from him. I can’t recall if it was Parcells or someone else, maybe with the Giants after Parcells.
Stories about this are out there, but people seem to forget that this is how it starts, you either bring in a retread or hire guys like Brian Schottenheimer and Jason Garrett and try to make it work. You’re hoping to strike gold, or oil, in Jerry’s case, and when it doesn’t happen, you move on to the next. That’s what they’re doing; it’s not about puppets or money.
The old narrative doesn’t apply anymore. Sure, there was some strange stuff in the first five, even ten years after Jimmy Johnson left when Jerry was trying to prove something, but in the last ten years, especially the last five, and even more so in the last two, things have changed completely. This isn’t his goal anymore. They’ve just made mistakes, like other teams have.
Look at Aaron Glenn’s early struggles with the Jets, but maybe things are starting to turn around. You can’t just throw it out and start over; you have to give it a chance. I think people here are NOT giving Brian Schottenheimer a fair shot, and I believe he’s pretty good.
Other seasoned head coaches like Dan Quinn and others have made similar or even worse mistakes, so what’s the real difference, pay scale or an opinion from the peanut gallery?
If that were the case we wouldn't have one of the highest paid rosters in football getting trounced by a bunch of no names from Tampa. The Dallas Cowboys are easily the most profitable sports franchise in the US and close to being so in the entire world.

Because I'm not going to sit here all day. I think we get the point. They've done it both ways and so far over 30 years. None of it has worked. So the hole you get, what you pay for nonsense is not a real thing. You can get great young coaches as well. Why do I need it anymore? I mean, Pittsburgh got Mike Mccarthy and the Jaguars got Liam Cohen. Aren't they on two different spectrums or the Jags cheap? Did they cheap out? I mean, is that the point? Brian Schottenheimer is no different than Liam Cohen. As a matter of fact, II think he's more experienced. I'm just trying to make a point here. Stop talking about money. When it comes to Jerry, we get it. You used to say his narrative, he was trying to cheap out know what he was trying to do is be A genius and find the next boy Wonder. But then he also picked up guys like Mike Mccarthy and Dan Quinn. He would have got a retread if that's what you wanted, you should have made your request a lot sooner. That is not what the tenor was in here. They wanted something different and something new and at the hiring cycle. They actually didn't get the worst guy. That would have been Pete Carroll completely. Pooped his pants over there. Bill Belichick ran over to North Carolina. I mean, talk about a step down from where he used to be. We were not getting Ben Johnson or Vrabel. Because they already had their mind set on the teams they were going to. Therefore it was Aaron Glen. Brian Schottenheimer. I mean, there wasn't many others. Aaron Glenn has not done much with the Jets up to this point. I think you get my point. It's not just about how much money you spend, cause Sean Payton really hasn't delivered much in 22 years. He really hasn't. That's a long damn time to have one championship. With one of the best quarterbacks of all time. I'm just saying I like the whole well, it's you get what you pay for. No you don't. You could do it one way or the other. Sometimes you get lucky. We saw how. Harbaugh started where, I mean, most of them were like assistants, special teams, coaches. I mean that is what you do. That is not nothing to do with money? Where do you think these guys started? Bill Belichick used to be with the Browns and he wasn't much good. They took a risk on him..you named two out of several HC's.
