You got what you asked for...

Down 5, entering the second half, you got what you wanted. A glimpse of the "future" of the Dallas Cowboys. And you know what? I understod the move. I supported the move. I knew the move was coming before they came back from commercial. This team was doing nothing with Bledsoe. The line couldn't block for him, he made another horrible mistake to just suck any momentum the team had right out from under it - he NEEDED to be pulled. There was no other option. But then we got what we wanted. We got Romo believing he could throw the ball through Michael Strahan.

19-7.

But Romo bounced back. I make jokes about the moxie, but he's got it in spades. Before he came out after the half, he was rallying the team around himself, and they were ready to fight for him. Even after his INT, he was ready to come right back and fight.

And then TO struck. More than anything else on this night, I hate TO for an evening. Romo led the team downfield. He converted a 4th and 2 to the most complete WR in the league with a wide open field in front of him, and that WR dropped the freaking ball. There was no threat of a hit, no footsteps, no Michael Lewis, he dropped the freaking ball. A catch a pee-wee WR makes, he dropped it. And that was all she wrote. Our overrated defense folded like a deck off cards.

You wanted blitzes? You wanted Zimmer to sell out and come after Eli? You got it. You got a bunch of players doing what they always do - run into each other and give Eli a perfect pocket to pick the outside apart with. You got him doing just enough to step back and find the open man. You got EXACTLY what you wanted, and it failed miserably. I'm sure Zimmer will get blamed, like freaking always. Nothing is new there.

To sum up, Romo has to be our man now. How can we go back to Bledsoe, when we've seen the flashes we've seen? Hell, if Romo can understand that it is physically impossible to throw the ball through Robbins and Strahan, he might be unstoppable. But there will be growing pains. It's inevitable.

I just hope the 25 million dollar man ceases to be part of the problem. And he can stop the idiot dances when we're down. Save that for when you catch the freaking ball on freaking 4th and 2. It'll mean alot more.

SUPER PUNK!! SUPER PUNK!!!!

Nice post!!!!

I've been down on this team since game 1.

But tonite, I saw something that gives me a glimmer of hope.

Yeah, Romo threw 3 picks. But our offense was looking better with Romo there.

Wait, it looked like the offense could move didnt it?

Romo did not look worse than Bledsoe. At all. Even with the INTs, the offense at least moved. Not an excuse, but there was an obvious difference.

yeah, the offense did a lot of moving. As it was trying to chase down Giants Defenders who had the ball.

He threw three pics in a half.....hmmmm.....and Bledsoe's three pics against Philly and Jax was better???

To me, Romo is like a golfer that hits his driver 325, but when he gets on the green can't putt for $*@#&#*@*@*. He is going to have some great plays, but also he is going to miss a 2 foot put for birdie!

No, TO missed the 2 foot put

i really think bledsoe would have been better for a comeback than romo.

oh well hope the kid does well.

The team was stagnant with him. Something had to be done. Aside from the numbers, you could just feel that. Drew was down on himself, and everyone else was, too. I am a huge Drew fan, but the timing was perfect for the switch. I called it before the half was out, and basically said word for word Parcells' reasoning. For this game, having drew might have been better - we'll never know. But that offense was different. The playmakers got their hands on the ball quicker, and things were made of nothing. I'm more interested in seeing Romo in full game action.

Carolina is a hell of a test.

If you can't take awfull mistakes and ugly interceptions, then you don't have the stomach to break in a young QB. They all do it. If you can't handle it, just resign yourself to Vinny and Bledsoe.

Actually IR, I can't take Owens dropping crucial 4th down passes and our overrated front seven being.....overrated.

But thanks for "reading" my post. ;)

I actually wasn't replying to you. I was just speaking in general. I agreed with a lot of your post.

I'm with ya. This is the most encouraged I can ever remember being from a very disheartening loss. With Romo there is hope for this football team.

What, like seeing Fasano and Witten finally get out there running routes sinc they don't have to stay in to block.

It was funny how Witten was suddenly reborn. What, no "Witten sucks" threads this week from anyone?

As for the original post, I agree entirely.

This will be a test: Romo will have to bounce back from a bad game, but he will have a week of practice. And hopefully, some semblance of a running game. He was on the hurry up pass drill for much of this game. Can't imagine it would have been much better with Bledsoe in during the second half anyway. Something needs to happen with the Oline, and something with the coaching as well.

Cross fingers for Romo, let's hope the worst is behind him.

Makes me think the playcaller is making to much out of Bledsoes mobility. More targets are better than more blockers. The one time I saw Fasano go out in a pattern for Bledsoe tonight he hit him for an 8 yard gain.

I think they need to come to terms that its better for Bledsoe to get sacked 45 times and take some huge plays with it. Once the line figured it was ok to start blocking the D-Line the offense show some life. I mean 3 of the 4 sacks on Bledsoe came when the line didnt block anyone... Arrington got through right at the snap , Strahan wasnt even touched and whoever stunted around to the center ( I think the line has no IDEA what a stunt is ) got through untouched too ( Strahan was it? ).

If you have weapons you use them. Bledsoe was sacked over 50 times in 02 but still had 4400 yards and 24 TDs. You have to take the bad with the good and it seems Dallas refuses to play to ANYONES strenghts.

I agree. I mean, normally a loss against the Giants on Monday Night would really have me in the dumps. And I am somewhat, but I still feel good about Romo. I think the mistakes were a given but the guy did manage to get this offense moving.

Romo should have started last week, and BP really threw him to the wolves here. But I am confident that he will bounce back. Dare I say I am even...excited?

Unlike Henson, when thrown to the Bears, Romo made some plays against a good team. Sure he made some mistakes. But he at least Showed something. With Bledsoe we know what we are getting, 7 points in the 1st half. Stuck in a hole, no response to anything the opposition does.

Honestly, minus the Texans and Titans games, where Bledsoe played pretty good, against ****TY teams, he has really only had moment where I felt, we're going to be OK.

Losing to Jacksonville, early, Bledsoe marched us down teh field with some command. I thought, we'll be alright this year. Since then, I'm still waiting to see a glimpse of the player we thought he might have been for us.

It's clear, the team is behid Romo, and he plays like it. I wanna see him after this stretch on teh road. We will know alot about him.
