No doubt, WG. I'm kind of surprised at all the people who think he did such a great job "except for the turnovers". Those boneheaded interceptions are exactly what loses ballgames, no matter how many other pretty passes are completed.

Yep, and that attempted screen pass where he double pumped and still tried to complete the pass and it got intercepted was absolutely horrible.

On another play, he was getting ready to be sacked and kind of just threw/flipped the ball to Patrick Crayton (I believe it was him).

I think Romo will be that type of Quarterback. Where he will try to do a little too much at times instead of just thowing the ball away.

I saw some good things from the guy but at other times, I saw some horrible things as well.

But heck, you can say the same thing about Drew Bledsoe  .

I agree. I don't think he did a great job, he did some good things but he has to do much better about not making impulse throws. This is something Parcells has talked about regarding Romo for a while now and that is his "play ground" type throws. Should he be named starter for the upcoming game that will be a big key on him keeping the job or not.

I've been down on this team since game 1.

But tonite, I saw something that gives me a glimmer of hope.

Yeah, Romo threw 3 picks. But our offense was looking better with Romo there.

I agree. Romo showed a lot. Both good and bad. What he showed bad is fixable, what he showed good cannot be taught. While he isn't ready to lead this team to a Superbowl, I can see him being the future QB of this team. It's only one game, but sometimes you can just see something in a guy. Do I think he will be a all-time franchise QB like Aikman, Farve, etc. No, while I think the kid has something, I expect him to be more like a Matt Hasselbeck at worst Jeff Garcia. (Lets hope that doesn't happen)

One thing is clear. While the Cowboys arn't ready to win it all, it is/was time for a changing of the guard at QB and I damn glad it isn't another old washed up QB ala Bledsoe/Testaverde

i really think bledsoe would have been better for a comeback than romo.

oh well hope the kid does well.

Me too.

I was thinking maybe the OC was going to wake up in the second half with Bledsoe...

1. The ONE screen pass in the first half went 30 yards.
2. The TWO rollouts in the first half went: 1. For a completion to TO for 25 yards 2. A rushing TD for Bledsoe.
3. Lots of Shotgun for the QB (I was right there, lots of shotgun for our "mobile QB"

The offensive line, the defensive 1st half lapses and MOST OF ALL an Offensive coordinator who, knowing the types of plays that put blitzing Ds on their heels, decided to use them 3 times in the whole half.

Bledsoe was doomed by tons of team/coaching inadequacies before his goalline brainfart.

And please remember Romosexuals; Gmen played prevent (3 man rush) for
70% of the 2nd half after the first Romo game changing INT.

There's no guarantee Romo will lift that yoke of mediocrity. Would you really accept that kinda play from him last night if lasted over several games?

If he's the starter Romo's got to play better.

this franchise needs to know what it has in Romo and that is only possible by playing him...if we waited till next year he would be 27-28 and still need that year of evaluation leaving him at the age of 28-29 before we know what we have...that is unacceptable...

we weren't going to win a Superbowl with Bledsoe...I can garantee that so what was the point of continuing having him suck the life out of the offense...

this also has a very good side effect in that we may now be able to accurately judge the olines performance...

Romo threw some dumb passes... but it was always gonna be a learning curve from the bench to the field...

I really feel for the first time in 4 years Cowboy fans have something to be happy about as we are gonna finally do what we should have been doing all along...

growing our own offense instead of patchwork

:laugh1: Exactly. Everyone who thinks Romo will necessarily be better might be in for a rude awakening.

BUT... We weren't going to win it all with Drew, and Super Bowls are what we're all about. Now, we'll get to find out if Romo is the answer or if we need to spend a high pick or trade for a QB. Personally, I think it's the latter, but either way, we're *finally* on the way to getting a QB that can win big for us.

exactly....

Drew was not the answer... he never was

I don't think there are that many who think Romo's definitely the answer, but there are a great many here who know that Bledsoe isn't.

I've never thought that highly of Romo and do think that the chances of failure are above 50% but so be it at least it's not Bledsoe.

I'm not even interested in discussing Bledsoe. Bledsoe is what he is. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, and sometimes horrific. We knew it coming in.

My issue is with some folks, not all, ready to annoint Romo, as if his play had nothing to do with the outcome of the game last night. He's not exempt from being criticized for his bad play nor some of his bad decision making. It's the nature of the QB position and he is not excused from criticism. Folks are willing to say they can accept his mistakes more than they can Bledsoe's. Mistakes are mistakes. I don't care who made them. He does not get a free pass.

I liked how the team seemed to respond to him. I like the quicker tempo of the offense, but every throw he made scared the mess out of me.

absolutely he needs to be held accountable...
hopefully he will not repeat the same mistakes over and over like a certain Vet qb

4 sacks, a safety and and a pick in the endzone doesnt brighten things up either

David

One sack and the pick were on him. The pick cost us 3 points for sure. Romo's 3 picks cost 17 and the game. We were down 5 points at the break and there was no need whatsover to panic. Glad everyone's exhilarated about getting embarrassed in a must win game on national TV.

It's freaking inexplicable. We could have put Skylar Green back there and they'd be thrilled. As long as he can "avoid the rush" and be NOT Bledsoe.

Romo did make mistakes and there is no excuse for those, but for most of the second half we were in pretty much pass only desperation mode.

How do you think Bledsoe would have done in that situation with rush coming after him every time knowing exactly where he is gonna be.

Romo wasn't perfect (by far), but he made some good things happen. He could of used some help, like from TO on the drop and he was a little unlucky. A lot of tips fall harmlessly to the ground. His tip got picked.

Romo does present some things that Bledsoe does not and I think he'll help take some of the pressure of the Oline.

How far we go with Romo depends on how well he's able to avoid the impulse throws.

We're tied with the Raiders for first place in interceptions thrown with 11 after just 6 games. We're on pace for nearly 33 interceptions with better receivers and running backs than we've ever had and more experience at qb than in years. We also have the toughest part of our schedule still in front of us with games against the Giants and Eagles and Saints, Colts, Buccaneers,Falcons,Panthers still to come. Wake up and smell the coffee. We could go 6-10 again.

A pick like that one inside the 10 against the Eagles probably cost us that game.

3 picks against Jax cost us that game.

He was well on his way to blowing this one too.

How many games does he have to throw away before you "panic?"

Nobody is absolving Romo, but if game costing interceptions are going to be thrown - and Bledsoe has thrown far more than his fair share this season - I would rather they be thrown by a young guy who is going to improve not a 14 year vet on his last legs.

Am I "exhilarated" by that? Heck no. I honestly thought Bledsoe would be better than he has this season, but he hasn't. He's stunk with or without pressure. At least *a* problem is being addressed, and that I'm happy about.

That pick costs us the game and it cost Bledsoe his job!

Romo dissapointed me in the game with those throws, I expected him to take better care of the ball. I have seen all of those plays by Bledsoe in the past games, even that stupid one trying to throw that screen to Julius, Drew did that last year almost identically. The pick run back for a TD, saw that one by Bledsoe 2 weeks ago and he is lucky I did not see one last night by Madison.

At least we have a guy who has a chance to improve - we would not have that with Bledsoe playing.

Buy the way, our Oline is pathetic!!!!!
