You guys do realize I think we are going to suck this year right?

I think if everything falls into place, 10-6 and just in or out of playoffs. I exepct a significant injury or two will test this....

No, not 3 or 4 win suckitude, but I see about 7 or 8 wins TOPS. Too many holes in secondary and at linebacker and oline is thin too. BUT I've followed this team for 35 years and will root like hell for them regardless.

But after reading that Haley article, it's obvious most of this team doesn't get it....at all. It's gonna take Red a couple seasons to 'change the culture'. It doesn't happen over night, because alot of contracts don't allow for it: see T.Newman, Jenkins, etc.... So.....get ready because the games will be close this season but I don't see 9 wins or the playoffs at this time.:banghead:

Ah the 10 millionth post re how we will be bad so the OP can state, see told you if we are.

I'm expecting a Super Bowl win.

Why?

Because I'm a fan who is eternally hopeful until they are out of it.

What I do realize is that today is August 24th and the opener as I recall is scheduled for September 11th. In between is 2 more preseason games, several weeks of preparation as well as many more opportunities to improve our roster via courtesy of the NFL and league wide cut down dates.

I also realize we have a young coach in the process of changing not only the culture of a team as you stated but implementing a new philosophy. At the same time I have full confidence in Garrett, Ryan, Jones and the rest of the staff and front office at Valley Ranch that they will do what needs to be done to have this team ready opening day mentally and physically as well as have the pieces in place that they feel they need to get it done.

I'm positive on August 24th of 2010 Kansas City Chiefs fans every where were looking ahead to the 2011 draft while at the same time I remember Vikings contemplation Super Bowl festivities.

I'm also not getting that same vibe you speak of from the players. I actually have found it to be the opposite of not only what you described but opposite of what we have seen the past few years. I think Bradie James drove home the point when he said, “Our alumni, our former greats have made us America’s Team and we reap benefits that we haven’t earned — all the way around, as individuals, as a team. Those guys earned it. We just think we deserve it.” To me it's obvious the players finally understand.

I'm not calling for a 16-0 or a 0-16 but what I do know is the Cowboys will show up and play all 16 games for 60 minutes under Garrett unlike we have seen in the past couple years and I do believe unlike last year, we wont be sitting waiting to see who wins to eliminate us from the playoffs and rushing to update the draft order.

The Boys will be in a position to control their own fate down the stretch and I have faith Garrett by that time will have this team fully understanding what it means to make their own destiny and have to as Bradie said "earned it".

Heckuva post my friend!!! :star:

Great Post ....... welcome back man.

Why do the cowboys continue to break my heart?

We had a bad year, we didn't win the superbowl, and i just can't take it anymore.

I...i predict they win 0 games :(.

:violin:

We went 5-3 and lost the three games by a combined margin of 7 points when Garrett took over as the head coach. This was with a horrendous d-coordinator and a journeyman QB who at best is going to squeak above a 1:1 TD:INT ratio. Oh, and we had a RT that could barely get out of his stance in time to watch guys running by him.

Now we have the same guys, but with our top 10 QB back, a RT who can dominate with sheer athleticism, a quality d-coordinator, and a healthy team.

Oh, and our schedule looks softer than last year.

Remind me again how this team is automatically not a playoff team? I know how tough it is in the NFL, but as easily as we could go 8-8 we could go 12-4, and you absolutely cannot convince me otherwise.

But I don't think we suck half as much as the OP is hoping we do.[/quote]

..I cut my teeth on Staubach, Dorsett, White and Martin. Love this team but this isn't a good group..hasn't been for awhile. If it makes you feel better to say I 'hope' we lose then knock yourself out....doesn't make it true though.

Similarly, it doesn't mean they suck just because you say so...or hope so.

See how that works?

I don't see how it's so obvious to see that this is an 8 or 9 win team, but that the team absolutely cannot surprise you and win 1 or 2 more games than you predict and actually make the playoffs.

Can you tell me why you're so certain we can't win an extra game or two, and why anyone who thinks that we can "just doesn't see it?"

Because the team just isn't that good, any team is only as good as their weakest link and this team has a lot of weak links. Sure the fill in guards have looked decent in preseason, but that's meaningless. They'll be exploited during the regular season and Tyron will be tested all year long. Choice is overrated, he is JAG on most teams but they really need him to take some of the pressure off Felix. Romo, Witten, and Austin will be fine, but Dez has shown time and time again that he doesn't study or prepare hard enough and isn't detail oriented enough to be great. The defensive line is average at best, Ratliff and Ware will be double teamed and game planned against every week, leaving Spencer alone to prove once and for all that he's just an average player who doesn't have great instincts. The secondary is already banged up and they were terrible last year. No reason to expect they can shut down teams like NYG or Philly even in our own division. If you were to go position by position and OBJECTIVELY rank each team in the division, there's no way you could say this was the best team, at most they are second best, and that means they will probably have between 7 and 9 wins, but it's hard to believe they'll go grind out 9 wins because we know they aren't a team with a lot of heart and desire and fire.
