You guys do realize I think we are going to suck this year right?

Agreed. The title was misleading. He isn't describing a team that sucks.

That's typically the problem I have with posters here....it's their delivery. If someone posts a well thought out post, free of the hyperbole that this one uses in the title, I don't have issue with it whether I agree with it or not.

It's the exaggeration that gets to me....

I love you, man! L.O.V.E

The feeling is mutual... but we're still not going on long walks in the moonlight...

Really, I do. You give me goose pimples with your knowledge and razor sharp insight!

Yeah, that's my raison d'etre... I am upset that you don't seem to appreciate my sense of humor, though...

Where does the "suck" logic come from?

From deep within his anal orifice... I can only speculate as to how difficult it was to extract it so that he could share it with us... I mean, first he'd have to extract his cranium to get at it, wouldn't he??

:D

But where is all the perfume coming from?

Multiple personalities...wasn't that like with Sally Fields and the Flying Nun? Now, it all makes sense...two seperate and distinct personalities. One body. Which personality is in control now? What will be the trigger point in the future? :) Just spray some perfume about and let's find out...

I do expect us to be competitive most evey week, and would be shocked if we did not give our best effort. I do not expect any "blow out losses".

However, we got a bunch o' holes on D.

No real pressure player other than Ware, who still sometimes disappears in games-

Too many holes in the secondary-

Who is the FG kicker? This alone could mean the difference between 2 losses or 2 wins.

I think we will flirt with .500 most of the year and finish anyhwere from 7-9 to
9-7.

Not to mention Peter King brought up a good point the other day. This defense is complex. It wouldn't be surprising if we blow a couple of games this year due to a critical assignment mistake on defense late in the 4th quarter.

I'm optimistic about the direction the team is headed but I'm far more excited about 2012 than I am 2011.

Good points. I can certainly understand where people would be in this line of thinking and it's a pretty reasonable one as well.

Although possible, this is unlikely. Ryan would have worked with these guys enough to know what they get and what they don't. No way will he call something in a real game, with the game on the line, that he is not 100% confident that his D will execute. It is a complex system but even if we don't pick up all of it by the first game, he will limit his D Calls to that part of the play book we have a full grasp on.

We will make mistakes for sure and we will blow assignments, all Defense's do. But it will not becasue we are in to complex of a system and he calls something out of the blue, like he claims to have done a few times in the preseason.

Agreed, we already saw evidence of this in the game last week.

None of the holes on defense change the fact that this offense is good enough to win shootouts. Sure, the defense is going to make mistakes, and probably give up some big plays. But our offense can probably make more big plays against other teams than they'll make against us.

By all means, be "realistic" about the team. I'd rather be disappointed if the team doesn't perform well than surprised when they do.

I think it's an unacceptable line of thinking for any red-blooded fan of this football team. Rex Ryan took a hapless Jets team that lost its final five games the year before to the AFC Championship in his very first year as their head coach. And did so with a rookie QB.

And you mean to tell me that it's reasonable to think that we should have to wait yet another year to have championship aspirations, particularly when Rob has come out and said this is the most talented group of defensive players he's ever coached? When we have Pro Bowl level talent at QB, WR, RB, TE? No, the time is now.

No, not 3 or 4 win suckitude, but I see about 7 or 8 wins TOPS. Too many holes in secondary and at linebacker and oline is thin too. BUT I've followed this team for 35 years and will root like hell for them regardless.

But after reading that Haley article, it's obvious most of this team doesn't get it....at all. It's gonna take Red a couple seasons to 'change the culture'. It doesn't happen over night, because alot of contracts don't allow for it: see T.Newman, Jenkins, etc.... So.....get ready because the games will be close this season but I don't see 9 wins or the playoffs at this time.:banghead:

I am not as optimistic this year (which means they will make a run). Felt the Wade teams were stacked but something on inside wasn't right. It will take Garrett time to get accountability in place. He started with signing Scandrick. I really think he needs one of these younger offensive lineman to emerge as a leader in terms of work ethic. Many people forget ....it was the guys on the offensive line during Jimmy Johnson run that dictated the tempo and playing style of that team.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean here, but I agree that there was/is something rotten in Denmark.

I think this team needs a heart transplant. More often than not this team played gutless when faced with adversity the past few seasons.

The team is talented and talent always puts you in the ball game, but I've seen them wilt too many times.

I think Garrett is ridding this team of a lot of dead organs and he's not done with the surgery yet, but has to wait because you can only do so much at once.

Agreed.

It is going to take Garrett several seasons to piece together "his team". Like you said, he cant do it overnight and there are probably going to be some growing pains in the meantime. However, once Garrett gets all the pieces in place this should be a very good football team week in and week out.

I would say 2-3 seasons for Garrett to finalize the overhaul.
