Not to mention Jones was a known hater of paying coaches big dough...no Cowboys coach has ever made over a million besides Bill -that's another log on my pile of proof.gbrittain said:I guess my work is done here. I have asked for one shred of proof over and over and all you can give me back is your opinion.
I am not even sure why you posted the statement above as it has nothing to do with your original premise that no big name coaches wanted the job.
youngbuck said:And I take it you either missed my Julius post, or just chose not to address it. I understand, it did kinda blow up your argument.
Do you like Tofu?:laugh1:Hiero said:good thing he was already on my ignore list.
This proves nothing - you're comparing JJ to a Mike Martz Run & Shoot Offense?youngbuck said:Career yards-
Julius- 1812
Steven Jackson- 1719
Career TDs-
Julius- 12
Jackson- 12
Career starts-
Julius- 19
Jackson- 18
career yards/game-
Julius- 86.2
Jackson- 59.2
.....then throw in Marcus Spears
I'd say we got the better end of that deal. And I'm sure you wern't comparing him to Kevin Jones.

I've taken no beating - I've won every debate so far and every poiint I made on page one Holds true.Big Dakota said:Players get beat. Ask Everson Walls after the catch. Ask Lilly and Jethro Pugh after the packers punched it over in the ice bowl. ETC. ETC.........
Somehow i get the feeling you are not, nor have ever been an athlete. I guess if you,ve never been in the arena you really don't know huh? You need to either grow up or change teams.
I'm out. I can't handle this drubbing your taking. I've seen Michael Spinks stand up stronger to Mike Tyson. You want BRUTAL? The beating your taking here is truely brutal.![]()
Connection20 said:yes, because Mike Martz was so known for running the football and sticking to the run. You do realize that at 10 different occasions last year the Rams passed on 12 or more consecutive plays? The only and I mean ONLY think you could contend that JJ has over Jackson is receiving skills, but even then, I seem to remember Jackson being nasty out of the backfield at Oregon.
I think we should reserve judgement on these two till after this season, if Jackson still has crappy numbers getting 25-30 carries a game, or if JJ get hurt AGAIN, then we will have a more clear picture of who is better, and who wasted a draft pick
youngbuck said:If Jackson had gotten as many carries/game as Julius in his 29 career games he would have had 2758 yds.
If Julius had played in as many games as Jackson he would have 2502 yds.
Are 256 yds really enough to say drafting Julius was "foolish"?
Jackson avg's .03 tds/carry. So give him as many carries as Jones and he'd average out to 14 tds.
Julius avg's .6 tds/game. Had he played as many games as Jackson he would have 17 tds.
If the point of the game is to score TDs, I think I'll take that and Marcus Spears over Jackson and 256 more yards.

Winner.
Connection20 said:well, my point had alot more to do with Jones not really being that good, as opposed to his drafting being foolish. Im actually so happy with Spears and Ware that Id almost say I really dont care if we werent compensated at all for the pick that allowed us to take Spears.
All that being said, I still think Jacksons numbers are skewed by his offense, just like JJs are skewed by his. The only time Martz ran the ball was in the 4th with a lead when teams were loaded up against the run. Martz didnt nearly enough draw plays that would have killed Ds because teams prepared for the passing attack so much. On the same token, SOOOO many of Julius yards and TDs have come from draw plays. Alot of his yards are what I like to call meaningless yards becuase he got a 9 yard run on 3rd and 17 because Bledsoe took a dumb sack at least 2 times a game.

His numbers are skewed, but as I stated his net yards arn't not significantly more than Julius' and juice's tds are higher. He may not have had as many attempts ast Julius, but he hasn't produced from those fewer carries to the extent X-troll states.
I don't care if he runs 18yrds on 4-50 or if he runs 18 yrds on 1st-10. It's 18 yrds. There's no such thing as meaningless yards. The only meaningless yards are ones for a loss.
Yes Julius got most of his run on draw plays. Cowboy fans call that good play calling. I hope Bill calls a few more of them this year. The thing about a play that works, you tend to use it more.
I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID 100% BESIDES JERRY AS AN OWNER . HE MAY MAKE SOME WRONG MOVES BUT HOW WOULD WE FEEL WITH A CHEAPSKATE THAT CARES NOTHING FOR THE TEAM . I CAN HONESTLY SAY JERRY GIVES A *(*^ . EVERYTHING ELSE WAS RIGHT ON POINT .X-Dawg said:You can make the case that -
- Hiring Parcells has been a complete bust - nothing has changed in the Win column
- Drafting Julius Jones was foolish - not to mention trading down and passing on some big backs.
- Signing TO may be a the worst move the franchise has made since it passed on Moss
- Holding onto Greg Ellis all this time was a complete waste
- Drafting Roy Williams - a guy we all wish was better than he is - who has yet to take games over like he did at the "O" - a guy who is basically a ONE dimensional Football player - was a terrible move and was taken way too high.
- Jerry Jones since his last SB win is one of Pro Sports worst owners...his teams have stunk - the playoffs have evaporated and he had to pay thru the nose to get a REAL coach like BP in here....b/c he scared people off with Gailey & Campo - nobody wanted he job.
- Giving Vanderjagt a 3 million dollar bonus may be the siliest thing ever done
- Ware over Merriman is looking bad b/c now even the guy who took him said he lacks "mean" spirit - not good.
- Giving a 9 million Dollar Check to Marco Rivera is as bad as it's ever gotten
- Drafting a LB and TE with our 1st two picks was borderline self sabotage and makes no sense when looking at the long run.
- Signing Drew Bledsow has caused nothing but headaches...
Connection20 said:I dont see how you can think there is no such thing as meaningless yards. If JJ carries the rock on 3rd and 17 and gets 9 yards. We have to punt. Those yards had no meaning what-so-ever.
Secondly, he has done alot to show me hes not that good, like slamming into the backside of his guard over and over and over and over every freakin play it makes me wanna puke. I had and still have high hopes for the guy, but those hopes really started to dwindle last season and nothing he showed in teh preseason game made it any better. I know the line wasnt blocking well, but at least when Barber got in he was knifing into what little hole was there and getting 2-3 instead of slamming into the centers *** for 0

EY , WHAT DO U WANT ME TO DO ? I AGREE WITH HIM . I HATE TUNA . I HATE T.O. I FEEL LIKE WERE WATCHING THE JETS . IF ANYONES OVERRATED ITS HIM . IM SICK OF HIS BALL CONTROL BORING STYLE OF PLAY . I DONT THINK JULIUS IS BAD HES JUS COACHED WRONG . I KNOW FOR CERTAIN HES CHANGED HIS RUN STYLE BECAUSE OF FAT BOY . HES GOT THE RUNNERS TRAINED TO KEEP THE PLAY INSIDE IF ITS CALLED INSIDE INSTEAD OF BREAKING IT LIKE JULIOUS IS USED TO . SCREW PARCELLS I CANT WAIT TIL HES GONE . IF YOU DONT AGREE I COULD CARE LESS . PARCELLS IS WAY OVERRATED . IF LT NEVER CAME INTO HIS LIFE HE WOULD BE JUS ANOTHER FAT UNEMPLOYED EX-FOOTBALL COACH . WE WILL NOTTTTTTTTTT WIN A SUPERBOWL AS LONG AS FATBOY IS COACHING .youngbuck said:![]()
