I think it was Shefter who originally reported Jones might try to make a run at Lewis, and he threw out something like 3yrs 27 mils...Lewis' recent comments make it obvious he wants a huge payday regardless of where he goes.

I dont even think he'll be on the radar screen here.

If that's what he is realistically expecting, then we are in agreement.

Your right... Give me Barbie instead.

I wouldnt go that far. But I would say I'd prefer someone far less expensive and much younger. A draft pick that could start would be nice.

Scott McKillop from Pitt fits that bill.

Agreed. It's not necessary to overpay in order to have a successful ILB. I'm also curious to see if we go DE in free agency or in the draft since canty will most likely be gone and spears just isn't very good.

That part I disagree with. I thought he had a pretty solid year. If Canty leaves though (and I expect he will) Hatcher has gotta step up or we will have to have help via f/a or the draft.

In my opinion, it's extremely unlikely that Ray Lewis will become a Cowboy.
  1. The Ravens just demonstrated that they were one game away from appearing in the Super Bowl with a rookie quarterback. The team has the opportunity for getting better, not worse.
  2. Baltimore doesn't have to break the bank to re-sign him. He only wants a respectable contract.
  3. The personal desire to remain in Baltimore until he retires is very evident.
Balance those against the only real lure (e.g. money) which Jerry Jones can throw at him and it doesn't look like it would be enough to get him to come here.

Agree on Canty.

But Spears I conpletely disagree. He was pretty solid. Remember most 3-4 DE's are not going to put up big numbers.

You guys are right. Just him getting blown up off the ball on those two Raven's touchdowns has me slightly bitter(if that wasn't him then i apologize!).

I've also been looking at FA ILB's and DE's. For DE's there's a few prospects, but Igor Olshansky for the Chargers is a FA and was a very successful DE under Wade. I'd look for him to be a possible signing. He's also only 26 and was known as a run stopper.

I thought that was Tank Johnson embarrassing his nickname on those plays?

Spears got blocked, thats what the DL's are pretty much supposed to do, take up blockers so the LB's and safeties can make plays.

Hamlin had a dead bead on both, and badly missed the tackle both times.

I imagine Wade will be interested in Olshansky, but IMO he'll command a similar deal to Canty. Unless they are of the belief that he is better than Canty I cant see how they'd sign him.

God I hope not.

It would seal the deal that we are back to being a desperate team that has no faith in the front offices abilities to find talent in the draft.

If he comes here He wont improve anything, imo. We need young players with good work ethics and marion barbers attitude towards the media.
I wouldn't go that far. The philosophy has always been (and should always be), fill holes in free agency and find talent in the draft. If Zach doesn't come back and we lose Burnett in free agency, I'd say ILB has a gaping hole in it.

When's the last time we drafted someone for ILB? Burnett and Carpenter were both drafted as OLBs (stupidly I might add). So, it's not surprising that we wouldn't have an ILB ready to fill that spot from a draft perspective.

We need to draft some LB's which is a given.

I do think Ray could help this team BIG-TIME, in leadership, passion and performance. The defense would surely be upgraded and disciplined.

Jerry would not need to do much in FA really, so I say pay the guy and get him in the locker room ASAP.

May not happen but Dallas needs the passion and leadership BAD!!!

While I agree it would be nice to draft a young stud, the reality of it happening and contributing immediately is slim.

Ray still has great years left in him....and would bring the leadership we so desperately need. Belechek brings in vets all the time...that are way older, and they do the trick. It's not about bringing in star players, it's about bringing in the right star players.

Do I want to sign him to some riduculous deal? NO...but if you want leadership....and a darn fine player...sometimes you have to pay for it!

The defense started to look the part last year late....but they needed that somebody on the field that was the general. IMO Ray will change the whole complexion of the D and demand better play out of everyone.

Please Jerry.....make this move.

Very interesting, entertaining, and fun interview but I don't know that it points anymore toward him coming to Dallas or not. It all seems pretty much like speculation to me and some how I just doubt he'll be here.

He is the one big FA move I do hope we make, in terms of bringing anyone else in. But I doubt it happens.
