You Will Never Draft The Next Patrick Mahomes If You Handcuff Yourself To Alex Smith

It is a reality, many want to settle for Dak, arguing that it is very difficult to find a franchise QB, when Dak is not a franchise QB, it is good to a certain point, but Dak's weaknesses are the ones that are causing damage, he already has 7 years in the league, do you think that will be different just by changing coaches? NOT,!! It is necessary to search and search until you find the right QB, not to waste years with a QB that you know in advance that you are not going to get anywhere with him, what Mahomes showed is impressive, play with an injury and perform, that motivates your team, that is leadership, Dak breaks a nail and doesn't play, and when he returns he starts with a poor performance, it is very difficult to see another QB of Mahomes' level again, but for example in the 2023 draft there are excellent QB prospects, it is required to risk and search,

It's about sticking with mediocrity. He used the Chiefs as the example. The Rams and Eagles could have been used equally, as well. Different route leading to the same ends, and illustrating the same concept.

Eagles would be a good example but they did it a little differently surrounding a clearly not elite qb with talent.

The Cowboys FO biggest issue is handcuffing itself to mediocrity and becoming comfortable in it. That's not just with the QB position either. However, the QB position needs to be taken seriously. We've not taken a QB in the 1st round since Aikman. I'd much rather us try on the unknown talent then handcuff ourselves to mediocrity.

That's a good example. Same for Carson Wentz.

Jerry would have clung to Wentz for a decade before admitting reality.

Can you imagine Jerry drafting Aaron Rodgers if he had Brett Farve?

Not to ownership they aren’t which is why you are wasting time banging this drum. Literally they are going to double down on dak and probably extend him to uphaul the roster around him. You’re wasting time- which is fine it’s your life but at best all you’ll ever get is someone on the internet saying “hey man you were right”. That’s at best.

And that’s with me just completely ignoring the fact that you didn’t think this year’s team was legit. Never once were a henson, Vinny t or a Quincy team an actual legit team.

So you keep doing the same thing that is clearly not working?

Russel Wilson was a better Qb and Seattle tried it with a big contract, it didn't work, so they traded him. KC did the same with Alex Smith. SF did the same thing with Jimmy G. Teams make changes once the GM or coach sees the team has hit a ceiling.

Don't mind the Cowboys eventually moving on to drafting a QB, but still don't trust Jerry Jones to be the main one who is in control of this process, with the way this front office almost drafted Paxton Lynch. So I would feel way more confident in knowing that the Joneses weren't the main ones who will eventually decide who the next drafted Cowboys QB is going to be.
 
If fans are “satisfied “ in anyways it’s because the reality is the franchise has completely fallen from grace. So back to back postseasons is actually a start from how bad things were/are. You have to build a program. The cowboys are the cowboys of old only on the balance sheet - so spare me with the super bowl or bust mantra. It’s sounds great. It used to be the way. Now it’s a bumper sticker.

The cowboys have to build sustained success…which why this upcoming season is hugeeeee. They have to make it back to the playoffs and win multiple games.

We’d have a completely different team. He can’t even handle the pressure in Washington…..Dallas would’ve chewed him up.

Allen has his own issues that no one talks about. He was just as bad as Dak down the stretch. Never understood why they painted them in the same light. Josh Allen ceiling is probably up there but his floor is down low.

And who is their GMs again? Is it the owner/GM Jerry Jones? The reason I say it woudove set us back is because Jerry would’ve never gave up on Wentz. It’s been proven he sucks in the locker room and is a cancer but he would’ve stuck with him through 7 years…..

And truthfully if we are being honest he’s really only had one great year and it’s 2017…he keeps living off of that and the injury is an excuse it’s been 5 years now….

I’ve personally always known the risk too but just like being in a relationship why just with ok when you think you should be doing better? You might not but that the risk you have to take instead of just living an eh life.
