You Will Understand After Sunday...

Guess who ranks dead last in run defense in the league? I'll spot you four letters: Indi

They're giving up 159.3 yards per game. That is not a typo.

This just in:

Possibly the most interesting piece of information I've seen on the Cowboys-Indy game this Sunday.

Thanks for the tidbit.

And, I should say that Parcells might have this exactly in mind as he approaches the game Sunday.
Romo might be handing off the ball more than usual.

i agree that the colts are vulnerable to good old-fashioned smashmouth football. and the cowboys have the running game to do it. but i don't feel so comfortable about the defense. they do a good job against the pass - but that's NOT the problem. they need to be able to able to knock manning down consistently in the passing game.

unless zimmer does a full 180 and confuses the colts with pressure from different angles, AND anthony henry has the kinda game he had several of last season - against reggie wayne, AND the FS doesn't blow coverage. not to mention the cowboys propensity for boneheaded penalties.

based on the cowboys current history of being unable to put together that kind of solid effort on a week-to-week basis....

it seems like a tall order against a 9-0 team.

Man reading all of these opinions and predictions for the game is really getting me pumped up. But for some reason i'm feeling like Indi is going to get one deep on us early and we are going to have to play catch up the whole game. Obviously i hope that isn't the case, but as much as i'm excited about Romo and the offense, i'm still always worried about giving up the deep ball. And there probably aren't too many teams that do it better than Indi. I think if we can get on the board early, put up a couple of defensive stops, and then control the clock with the ground game we'll be alright. But my gut keeps tellling me we're going to be playing catch up.( but i've found the more football i watch the more i realize i'm usually wrong in my predictions)

You will understand why Parcells has rested the RB's.
You will understand that the success Jones and Barber has is in how well they compliment one another.
You will understand that if either one of them were a 30 play back they would be less effective and prolly injured by now.

Mark my words Jones is going to go off in this game and Barber will pound their *** in the 2nd half.

I hope so I really felt like they dropped the ball by not running more vs Philly. Hopefully they will make up for it this game.

I hope that's true, but let's get serious on one note here...Indy may not be great at stopping the run, but let's not make them sound like a bunch of sissies...if they were as bad as people like to think looking at stats, they'd be more like 0-9 than 9-0. We should be able to pass and run on them, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to stop us more than we're going to score.

The Cowboys are NOT going to line up and run, run, run, run, run all game long and just keep the ball and the clock on their side...it doesn't work that way against any team in the NFL, especially not a team with a perfect record and a head coach who is very good at defense.

Did some of you guys ever consider that when you have an offensive machine like INDY does, that you play a more bend-but-don't-break offense intentionally, giving up more rushing yards in order to avoid giving easy TD's...I would think the smart approach in INDY is to make teams earn their points slowly.

This doesn't mean I don't like our chances of beating them, but anyone who thinks our running game is just going to dominate them all game and lead us to a win is crazy....our defense is going to have to get some stops, force some turnovers, and our offense/defense is going to have to put up 27 to 30 points to win this game, imo.

They are going to play our pass and let us run. Running eats the clock and slows the game way down. We keep the O cold and the D tired. The running game affects their offense. If our defense gets tired we are screwed.

i don't know about jones but i would put my money on barber having a good game.

I think Jones will have a better day because he is a bigger home run threat.

What is even more remarkable about that is this is an undefeated team. Undefeated teams typically have the lead most of the game, so opponents are not running the ball. If you look up stats from previous years, teams with good records often have excellent run defense stats.

How does a team that is 9-0 have the worst rushing defense in the NFL??

good point
can't wait to see how our backs do

The mighty Colts will shut down the Cowboys running backs even if Peyton has to play defense!

Go do something else on Sunday...this game is over...

80+ yards on Sunday, which is about what Jones averages, would be a good day
