Your 2026 Dallas Cowboys Draft Class

What grade would you give the Cowboys draft this year?

I'll give it a B going by this year's picks.

Downs is pretty much a lock star.

Couple of athletic pass rushers with tools.

I think the OT was a pretty big reach.

The CB is a MASH unit.

Overton could be a solid 3-4 DE

I think Smith was a wasted pick considering what was still there. The Navy RB will probably line up all over the Steelers offense and contribute this year.

I went B.

I loved the first 3. Felt there was better value on all of the picks today (excluding Moore). But you have to follow your board and scouts.

A

The filled needs with some very good players.
And need to figure in the trades.
Day 3 could have been a bit better, but not mad about it. But we all will have our own opinions for our own reasons.

Remove the trades, the grade drops slightly but still a very good draft.

However, it is an A+ because Jerry did not do anything stupid. Like trading away future picks to trade up a few spots.

If the Cowboys had a 2nd round pick, I bet they would have drafted that McCoy kid from Tennessee, with the knee injury. That's the way Jerry rolls.
I'll bet you would have been wrong. The medical news on him shoved him to each team down to day 3 only picks.

I'll go B. We all love the Downs pick. The rest of them? Who knows. The Jonathan Winters trade? Not sure but I would not put my money on Jerry in a battle of wits with anyone.

I'm going to give them an a whether you want to look at players they traded for or just players a outright pick. The last few days. I thought they did a great job using draft capital to add talent to the team. I thought they did a good job with the draft. Not moving up too much to overdraft somebody. They got great value for Downs. They moved back later in the round and still got the guy that they wanted. They didn't get crazy and try to move up with the third pick. They let the draft come to them and took another edge rusher/ inside linebacker. They really targeted guys that would fit the new scheme and fit this team and they're not all going to pan out. But you know let's see how this goes

B

Malachi was a reach when you couldve had a better player in Mesidor

Mostly ignored offense (we have nothing behind Javante, who is always hurt)

Yet another draft where they didnt even attempt to take a swing at finding the bum’s successor (didnt take a flier on Nussmeier)

Getting the best player in the draft at 11 and the philly trade is what made this draft a B

At this moment of time on the poll, there is 1 Philly fan and 4 Giant/Commander fans that have responded.

Not sure if the 4th round was worth trading for, especially if they'll be gone in 2 years. Just get quality don't worry about quantity. Ultimately, we'll hash it out on the field. We need an average to good to great defense this year.

Mesidor was off the board when they drafted Lawrence.

Its a weak draft in general but you got a top 4 player so to me it cant be lower than a "B". The rest is wait and see, and I say every year, if half these guys are on the roster 3 years from now it will be considered a good draft.

The Cowboys were sweating someone would jump ahead of them to get Lawrence. He is a riser and having his college coach inhouse we know exactly what we are getting.

The Cowboys should have ignored the offense. When you allow the most points in the league, clearly there are issues on defense.

This is a bad draft to get a QB. Next year is much better. Nussmeier has a medical red flag.

No draft is truly grade-able on the final day of the draft.

I understand why everyone rushes to give grades but these early grades are mostly going to be made through three kinds of lenses:
  1. The “experts” - the draft gurus who judge them based on how they rated players and their “fit” with teams.
  2. The team executives- who want to look good and build excitement for the coming season.
  3. The fans - depending on the shade of fan glasses, fans will either say it’s an A+ based on how bad they want it to be and grading downward based on other factors.
I’ve seen this draft graded from A to a C online so far. I guess I would say a B. I love the Downs pick. He alone makes this a pretty good draft. I’m not thrilled with Lawrence because despite his athleticism he will need some time in the oven. A lot of question marks after that.

In the end this draft will best be judged a year or two down the line.

Was Mesidor really better? Has an injury history, didn't really break out until his final year, and really benefitted from having Ruben Bain opposite him.

I think Malachi Lawrence is downgraded by many because he didn't play at a school known for it's football prowess.
