Lets try the opposite of chest thumping.

Name your three favorite Cowboys that even you have to admit just were not that good.

Let me be clear about what I'm asking for.

-You really liked this player. That is, if he could come back and play today you would still find yourself wanting to watch that player play.

-But, if you take an honest look at that players talents you would have to admit that he wasn't as good as some other Cowboys players you have had as your favorites over the years.

-So, your 3 favorite players, ranked from the worst talented up two spots.

Here are mine:

1. Gary Hogeboom - Yep, I was a big Hogeboom fan. Wanted Danny benched at the time. But when a guy only starts 1 year (1984), and doesn't finish the year as the starter, then goes to other teams and starts part time for the Cardinals and Colts, you just gotta admit he wasn't that good.

2. Drew Henson - I hate to rank him second because he is such an obvious choice, and even I am sick of talking/hearing about him. But I gotta admit that at the time we got him from the Texans I was hoping for a new franchise QB. I'm a QB pedigree believer too (I think Hostile was the one who said he is), and so Romo was off my radar at the time. As much as I wanted the guy to succeed, his opportunities with teams after the Cowboys all working out the same way, even when some of those coaches had associations with his family, says he just couldn't cut it.

3. Doug Dennison - I know this is a strange choice, but for some reason I always liked to watch Dennison run the football. He really had zero elusiveness, and was a 3 yards and cloud of dust kind of tailback. He started one year and gained a little over 500 yards I think.

Who are yours?

Linebacker converted to Fullback Robert Thomas.

Injury prone tight end David LaFleur.

Scatback Michael Wiley.

Special teams player Joe Fishback, what a name.

Oh man, this is going to be weird.

1. Mike Lucky. I went to school with him and think he's a great guy. As good a dude as you ever want to meet. Just not the best TE we ever had. He was gone as soon as we drafted Witten. No regrets.

2. Jamar Martin. I love FBs and I thought this smashmouth was going to punish people. I got punished.

3. Danny Noonan. I honestly thought we stole him. The only theft was his paycheck if he ever cashed them.

I'll never forget Dantzler's "dazzling" kickoff return.

I liked Noonan too, Hos. I really thought he was going to be a good one. He just never worked out.

Eric Bjornson -- I truly believed he was the heir-apparent to Jay Novacek.

Anthony Wright -- His athleticism was a welcome change from Aikman's latter years.

Randall Williams -- His combination of size and speed was uncanny. It's a pity he could never parlay his physical gifts into a starting position.

Honorable mention: Billy Davis and Leonardo Coleman.

Interesting idea.

1. Julius Jones (i really liked him and wanted him to do well. He just couldn’t break a tackle)

2. Woodrow Dantzler (that kickoff return against the Niners was one of the most amazing plays i have ever seen)

3. Antonio Bryant (i loved this guy and was so pissed when he was traded. Of course he has matured years later after being bounced around, very happy for him and his success)

Aaron Gibson: What can I say? I like big guys. Hos, you need to add him to the list of former UW players on the Dallas roster.

Willie Blade: See above. His name would be all over those morning and afternoon training camp reports.

Tyrone Williams: Another guy who would dominate pre-season games, but little else.

That list is drafted players only right now. He was drafted by Detroit.

Honorable mention...I thought we stole Joey Galloway. Of course at the time I thought it was going to be him and Irvin and we'd be drafting very late the next year.

1. Lincoln Coleman - had high hopes for him.

2. Dextor Clinkscale - average safety but very unique name.

3. Scott Secules - Would like to have seen him take a few regular season snaps. Figured he might be better than Pelluer.

So, how do you think the season would've gone if Galloway hadn't shredded his knee against Philly, and Aikman hadn't been forced into retirement?:D

I think you mean Rocket, Irvin had already retired by February of 2000, if I'm not mistaken Tom Landry died the same weekend the Galloway trade was finalized.
