Llooll... while bragging he outlived Jimmy, lol.
You guys have cheered me up today.
We can't change this dysfunctional mess, might as well laugh at it!

Exactly!I think early on, Jerry realized there were 2 ways to stay relevant long term…win or ensure everyone has an opinion of the team/you. Jerry chose option 2 and they are still just as relevant after 30 years of futility.
Players come and go but Jerry is the constant. As the face of the franchise, is it doesn’t matter if you love him or hate him as long as you have an opinion. Tune in to see them win or lose but just tune in. And it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have an opinion about Jerry/Dallas. And it’s kept them relevant without requiring performance and made him a lot of money.
The dilemma for Stephen is will the relevance continue post Jerry. Many people have strong opinions of Dallas because of Jerry (and his decisions). How might opinions fade after Jerry and how might that impact their relevance? The Raiders were relevant during the Al Davis years but I rarely see anything about them anymore.
IMO, Stephen doesn’t have the skills or fortitude to replicate Jerry’s approach. Hopefully that leads him to focus more on option 1 but only time will tell.

Either way he's like his father but more cheap and less willing to take chances and risk. So worse offIt depends on each individual's perspective. Dallas' annual efforts can decrease in the number of postseason appearances witnessed in the past thirty years and increase the number of below average regular season finishes.
Yes, that would be more worse outcomes under Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones. However, what would be the difference in championship contending potential? In my opinion, there would be no difference so I would not wish that his father would still be in control. The final results would remain unchanged.
And we have been worse because of itStevie has been in control for years now. Jerry isn't in there cutting players, interviewing anyone. He's not even cutting checks. He's a figurehead. A front man
Correct. Neither is preferred. It's like ok, you want a boloney sandwich dry or one with some condiments on it? Still boloney either way.And we have been worse because of it
Which rim? Lol.They aren't changing how they do business...hanging at the rim will continue.
I suspect Stephen tries to win a couple of SB's early in his tenure, so he can claim he won the big and then go back to hanging out the rim for money.
It's pretty obvious at this point that early playoff exits generate more money for the family than winning.
Stephen might let Will McClay take over, but I guarantee there will be a shady NDA associated with that.
As long as Will MCclay and his team of scouts are picking decent players, the Cowboys can hang at the rim.
I've maintained on tihs forum for well over a decade he will be worse that Jerry - its seems pretty obviousSo, as Jerry gets older, speculation abounds: how will the Franchise look after he moves on ?
The consensus is that Stephen will take control.
How will that play out you may ask ?
That's the purpose of the thread.
Below are are my random predictions/observations:
As poorly as Jerry has GM'ed this team, he still has a lot of charm and guile.
The P.T. Barnum in him has got him through some rough patches.
The just keeping the team relevant and hanging around the rim has kept the Star full of the casual fans.
Jerry also enjoyed the afterglow of the 3 SB victories he presided over.
He also lucked into 2 good serviceable QBs for next to nothing in cost in Romo and Dak.
These 2 QBs fit perfectly into the keeping the team relevant philosophy.
Stephen is not going to have any of the above benefits.
He has no charm, gets defensive when asked tough questions, and has actually insulted the fans with
his "air quotes" playoff drought response, and more recently his ridiculous response when asked about dragging out the
contract negotiations with star players.
Once Dak ages out, and we get really bad QB play like in the Campo years, this team will no longer be relevant.
The heat is gonna get really high, and frankly I don't think Stephen will be able to handle it.
I see him either hiring a real GM or selling the team.
I am really curious as to what you other folks think is going to happen?
Here’s the problem with that….unless Stephen sells, which I very much doubt, I think there’s a decent chance he hires a GM in title to take the heat off him, but he still holds the check book, so that GM would be handcuffed when genius talent evaluator and roster builder Stephen Jones decides a player isn’t worth the cost, which is always when it isn’t some dumpster player or a high round bust, they aren’t coming here.I can see that.
I have no problem with them maintaining ownership if they would hire a quality GM and give that person space to do their job.
Of the 3, option 1 is the only one I think is possible.Well, exactly, and he's got no where near the charisma that Jerry does. That's why he's either going to have to go option 1, sell the team, or relocate/fold. Which of those three is most likely?
Of the 3, option 1 is the only one I think is possible.
My gut says option 4 - continue with the status quo with less micro managing and camera time and slowly bleed relevance over time.
My hope is that he won't want the limelight like his Father , and will hire a GM.I've maintained on tihs forum for well over a decade he will be worse that Jerry - its seems pretty obvious
Jimmy Johnson said you make your own luck, or maybe that was Bill Parcels? Here’s the problem with that….unless Stephen sells, which I very much doubt, I think there’s a decent chance he hires a GM in title to take the heat off him, but he still holds the check book, so that GM would be handcuffed when genius talent evaluator and roster builder Stephen Jones decides a player isn’t worth the cost, which is always when it isn’t some dumpster player or a high round bust, they aren’t coming here.
Things my very well not change. Like @plasticman recently said, there’s going to have to be a lot of dumb luck involved…..something I once hoped for but that’s over.
The Toilet bowl rim....Which rim? Lol.
I can see it happening exactly like that. In fact, that's what I'm going to expect and reject any other possible scenario. So, as Jerry gets older, speculation abounds: how will the Franchise look after he moves on ?

Yup. I'm not going to be playing the violin like some will pretend to do.There is no need for him to be ruining my favorite team for the last 30 years either ....... screw Jerry Jones, he is a horrible human being ..... I will celebrate when he leaves this mortal coil.
I think that will be hard to do if every GM is having to sign NDA's about the Jones' business objectives. My opinion is the Jones's prefer to get knocked out early in playoffs for money. My hope is that he won't want the limelight like his Father , and will hire a GM.
That's a win for Cowboy fans...
