Your Dallas Cowboys after Jerry moves on.

I think that will be hard to do if every GM is having to sign NDA's about the Jones' business objectives. My opinion is the Jones's prefer to get knocked out early in playoffs for money.

Assuming all this is real, GM's have short windows to prove themselves and make themselves look good. What GM wants their decision making sabotaged, and them looking bad?

McClay has stayed on board and is obviously on board with what Dallas is doing. I assume the situation would stay the same...as MCclay not officially having the GM label so he doesn't have to take heat...he just gets credit for drafting good players.

I don't think any serious GM candidate that has put in years climbing the ladder would take this job.

Jerry monetized the sport. Stephen will follow suit with a good football guy in his back pocket in McClay.

McClay provides the on field hope that keeps the cash cow churning.
Except, decent QBs are hard to find.
When Dak ages out, do you trust these guys to find a decent replacement?
Remember the QBs we had during the Campo years?
I do, I am in therapy for my PTSD.

As much as we hate the GM Jerry the business man Jerry has employed a lot of people and those people have raised families off the salaries.
Im sure the team stays in the family but how does the inheritance tax work for this massive haul his kids will get.
Anyways pretty sure Stephen will hire a GM and let him handle it all including hiring a new coach. Stephen is no spring chicken and he should be wanting to enjoy life with the stress of doing everything Jerry did.

McClay most likely can find a guy good enough to drive the bus. If not, they can sign a vet journeyman who can get them to the playoffs.

They don't want or need a solid team...they need the playoffs. A serviceable QB that doesn't turn ball over like Prescott is preferred...it keeps fans engaged.

They need McClay buying groceries, a serviceable QB that can get them to the playoffs and NDA's from a coach or two that allow sabotaging once we make playoffs.

Now the rumors of us having a low coaching payroll make sense. We aren't trying to win a SB...just make playoffs. Why overpay for coaches when winning isn't the goal

So, as Jerry gets older, speculation abounds: how will the Franchise look after he moves on ?

The consensus is that Stephen will take control.

How will that play out you may ask ?

That's the purpose of the thread.

Below are are my random predictions/observations:

As poorly as Jerry has GM'ed this team, he still has a lot of charm and guile.

The P.T. Barnum in him has got him through some rough patches.

The just keeping the team relevant and hanging around the rim has kept the Star full of the casual fans.

Jerry also enjoyed the afterglow of the 3 SB victories he presided over.

He also lucked into 2 good serviceable QBs for next to nothing in cost in Romo and Dak.

These 2 QBs fit perfectly into the keeping the team relevant philosophy.

Stephen is not going to have any of the above benefits.

He has no charm, gets defensive when asked tough questions, and has actually insulted the fans with

his "air quotes" playoff drought response, and more recently his ridiculous response when asked about dragging out the

contract negotiations with star players.

Once Dak ages out, and we get really bad QB play like in the Campo years, this team will no longer be relevant.

The heat is gonna get really high, and frankly I don't think Stephen will be able to handle it.

I see him either hiring a real GM or selling the team.

I am really curious as to what you other folks think is going to happen?
Stephen turns 61 this year . Assuming Jethro will probably be around into his 90’s, Stephen will be in his 70’s which is old to begin a new career as GM.

I think it’s more likely which I have suggested many times over the years that he will assume the President role still overseeing football operations but will hire someone to take over as GM which he, his siblings and heirs can hold accountable.

Complete scam

That's what I hope happens.
For whatever reason we name,
They hire a true GM, and give him the freedom to do his job with meddling.
Thanks for adding to the thread, btw.

If that's the case, that's sad.
That would be such a disservice to the fans.

I totally agree.
I don't think Stephen wants the headache or the stress of running this team and defending this front offices questionable decisions.
Why not hire someone to do it and sit back and enjoy your billions?
I don't think Stephen enjoys the attention like Jerry.

Honestly, short of selling the team, this is probably the best possible outcome.

At least there is a good chance the Cowboys will have an actual football person as GM.

Money is the root of all evil...is a saying.

The low coaching payroll, which comes out of the owners pocket is a huge eed flag that reinforces my point.

Create an illusion for money.

All I know is....ive never owned a dog and created the illusion of it working hard is 'making it stronger'. Making it stronger for the owner to extract energy.

It's like those billboards you see on the highway 'pray, God listens' but it leaves out an important fact, does God take action?

It's instilling hope for profit.

It's all propaganda doe energy exteaction purposes. Money

We can only hope he hires a GM and he lets that person be the GM
But I believe he thinks he is smarter then everyone else and will run us into the ground
He will make Daniel Snyder look like a great owner

Good guy, Jerry giving us an insight

Just for an accept losing perspective and attitude shown, I hope he hangs around to 100.

I hope Parsons refuses the highest contract ever offered to praise his agent instead of his boss. If I were Jerry and this boiled down to signing or not, I'd trade him yesterday on morales and ethics. See if he holds out during the season and not on Jerry's final terms...

Lol, Jerry will be here another 1000 years in an android body fitted with AI.
