Has to be the All-ST-Draft 2009 :D
Did someone put Wade in charge of that draft? Damn that's horrible.

Even worse if you consider we gave up those draft picks for Roy Williams.

Jerry and his WR fetish. That feels like a classic Jerry 94-96 draft.

2002 was the only time the two players I wanted at those picks were chosen. Williams and Gurode went to 5 Pro Bowls each. Too bad Antonio Bryant was a head case and Derek Ross (5 picks his rookie year just like Bland) turned criminal.
If someone could have kept those 2 in line, and Roy's career hadn't fizzled down so fast, that for sure would have gone down as one of the all-time drafts. I was stoked at first too like John and others talk about.

The ‘75 draft is hard to beat.

Only one I hold in higher esteem: the 1964 Draft which contained 3 HALL OF FAMERS- Mel Renfro, Roger Staubach and Bob Hayes. And…also included QB Craig Morton who although not a HOFer, started two SBs- one for the Cowboys in SB V, and later for the Broncos against the Cowboys in SB XII.
I agree with you, except that Craig Morton was not part of the 1964 draft class. He was their first-round pick in 1965. Still a good pick-up. At the time, no one knew if Staubach would be still good at football after his tour in Vietnam, or if he would even want to play football in the NFL. Maybe he signs up for another contract with the Navy. Maybe he goes to play for the AFL team who drafted him as well (the Chiefs). Maybe he returns to the country and wants to start his real estate business then. Drafting Staubach was one of those educated guesses that might work out or might not. If we hadn't gotten Staubach, I believe this team would have still seen success, though probably not as much. With Morton instead of Staubach under center, we probably lose that 1975 playoff game against the Vikings. But I'd bet we win Super Bowls 6 and 12 with Morton under center.

Rev you are right. I should not have trusted my memory! Morton was drafted in ‘65! Thank you for the correction. I went back and corrected it in my post.

I’m gonna reach way back but it’s not even close for me.
The dirty dozen draft class of 1975.
12 draft picks made the squad and contributed greatly to the eventual super bowl champion 77 team.
Randy White
Herb Scott
Hollywood Henderson
Bob bruenig
Pat Donovan
Randy Hughes
Scott laidlaw
And a case for the greatness of Gil Brandt
The signed a free agent qb that year named Jim zorn that couldn’t make squad but wound up in the Seahawks hall of fame and won rookie of the year for Seattle…..
End thread, drop mike....no more discussion needed.

You can also count me in on the 2005 draft class. I remember watching and just loving the way the draft was falling for Dallas.

To build the hype even more, I remember the preseason game that year against the Seahawks, Ware made his debut and looked incredible for a rookie. He had a sack and an interception of Hasselback.
That was the only draft I missed since the late 80's
I was working in South Korea. They did not have ESPN over there at that time. I thought I set my alarm to get up to track on the internet. But did not wake up. Maybe it was the SoJu.
So hit the web sites when I woke up.
Was there close to 7 months before heading to Montreal. Found a nice sports bar downtown, Champs, watched the Cowboys games there if not on regular TV.

That was like a year long paid vacation.

I've been following Dallas' drafts since 2009 or so. I'm a glass half empty, Jerry skeptic type, but the one draft class where I walked away KNOWING that we F'ing killed it was 2020.

The year was 2016! We drafted the greatest player to ever play the game with our 4th round pick.

That was a really bad draft for talent but Dallas thought they could outsmart people by trading down and collecting a lot of picks.
