Like the title says, which year was your favorite Cowboys draft? For whatever reason. This is not a top all-time draft list.

For me, the 2005 Draft. Always admired Parcells Culture Change message which is half of the battle on a losing squad, bad business, anything in life.

This was the draft where Parcells basically said “Bleep it, we’re doing it my way” and went for 3-4 Defenders and tough, big, physical players.

DeMarcus Ware
MB3
Marcus Spears
Kevin Burnett
Chris Canty
Jay Ratliff

A great Front 7 that would still stand the test of time today and take out a QB. One of toughest RBs I’ve ever seen play with or without a solid OLine. (RIP)

Deep Blue recently did a documentary on Class of 2005 if you haven’t seen it yet. Good watch. What is your favorite Cowboys draft class?

This was one of the best of recent times

Interesting how everyone rags on the 2009 draft but not a word about the 1995 draft which was about the same.

I’m gonna reach way back but it’s not even close for me.
The dirty dozen draft class of 1975.
12 draft picks made the squad and contributed greatly to the eventual super bowl champion 77 team.
Randy White
Herb Scott
Hollywood Henderson
Bob bruenig
Pat Donovan
Randy Hughes
Scott laidlaw
And a case for the greatness of Gil Brandt
The signed a free agent qb that year named Jim zorn that couldn’t make squad but wound up in the Seahawks hall of fame and won rookie of the year for Seattle…..
Wow! What a haul!

Here are my top Dallas Cowboys draft classes:
1. 1975
2. 1991
3. 1964 (3 HOFers in this one)
4. 1989
5. 2005
6. 1988
7. 2016
8. 1973
9. 2020
10. 1970
11. 2003
12. 2022
13. 1968
14. 1992
15. 2010
I was wondering where the 89 draft fell in the order. That’s the one that’s talked about the most. The Walker trade.

No lie, I was so hyped for Dallas after the 2002 draft and how the 2002 season ended from a rookie perspective.

Roy Williams looked like a stud, Bryant flashed talent and Ross ended the year with 5 INTs.
Add in Gurode, who funnily enough was the best player from the draft once it was all said and done, I thought Dallas was finally turning it around.

I also did like the 2003 draft, but it may of been "hopium" from Parcells running that draft.
Wanted Suggs, but was happy with Newman, and died when they passed on Witten but were able to grab him in round 3. Liked the Bradie James pick in round 4. Still remember back then going to DallasCowboys.com and reading draft profiles for players. Wasn't as many good draft sites 20 years ago.

Worst one was 2004 from the point of view of hype leading to the draft. Waited hours for Dallas to take Steven Jackson only to trade back... At least it gave us 2 picks in 2005 and Ware was drafted over Spears at 11.
I was at those drafts. My son was born just a few weeks before the 2003 draft and I still attended on Sat/Sun and even got on ESPN...pissed my ex off good and proper...so worth it.

1975 hands down. The "dirty dozen" team became the 1st wild card team to make it to a Super Bowl and we damn near beat the Steelers with a roster that did not have Dorsett. Staubach and Landry squeezed every ounce of talent out of that team and it might be my favorite season because of how much we overachieved! We played the Rams at their stadium for the NFC Championship game and beat them 26-3! That draft reinvigorated the franchise and put them in position to win Super Bowl VIII against Denver. Great time to be a fan!

I think 2021 is looking good.

Especially with Lance added to the list.

That 2004 draft still pisses me off. We needed a running back and Freakin Bill passed on sure fire Stephen Jackson. And tried to be soo smart trading down and getting Julius Jones. Just take the freaking guy at 17!!!!

1991
6 starters
All 6 started 1 or more Super Bowls.

Erik Williams was one of the most dominant players at his position ever (pre car wreck). Woodson says they would have made it to the SB for the 94 season if EW played the NFC Championship game...

Erik Williams
Leon Lett
Russell Maryland
Alvin Harper
Larry Brown
Dixon Edwards

Godfrey Myles
- Quality backup and sometimes starter.
- 11 starts during the 95 SB season.

I think that was a Jerry Jones move.
