Your number 1 way to improve the Boys

Give one thing that you would do to improve the Boys with about 2 weeks before SD. No trades, just work with the current roster and schemes.
Heres what I would do:

1. Start Gurode at center

Do everything in my power to get Rivera ready for opening day.

If possible, and if he's healthy, give Rob a lot of time at RT on thursday.

Pray extra hard for Rivera (as Pops noted) to be healthy.

Basically, we are what we are are and there isn't much we can do now.

If have them working on Robs ankle all week. Get that baby feeling GOOD. Practice him but dont kill him before Thursday. I would then start Gurode at center like the rest. Rivera is going to be ready to play by SD. Bank on that pops.

I'd make my current best guess at the opening day starting oline lineup and work as much as possible on cohesive line play, familiarity with linemates over any more individual evaluation of Tucker/Petitti or Johnson/Gurode. Exclusive snaps with first team skills personnel.

I really don't think much more assessment wise will shake out a sfar as what each brings to the table over the other. That's pretty much known by now. Really, what can Rob tell us about gutsiness he hasn't already and what degree of readiness will be shown in a week four preseason write off?

So even tho Riviera's hammy is still a practice limitation consideration, I'd try to get these guys gelling for the next two weeks. Serious bonding and nuance stuff so they have the best chance of knowing what to expect from each other.

I'd also sign a vet kicker. I'd be more comfortable with one of the Andersens, than Cortez.

One of the many critcisms I have of BP is his lack of his willingness to let players heal.

This isn't 1986, the players are far bigger nowadays. The added weight leads to added injuries.

I appreciate toughness just like the next guy, but I can tell you from experience, there's a time to let the boys rest. In fact, it's imperative.
