I have to disagree. I think the underneath stuff is what this offense is going to run off all year. Especially to Witten. But Key will make short catches and so will Crayton. Don't expect them to go deep more than the minimum it takes to keep opposing defenses honest. Lot's of runs and short passes this year (and hopefully no more freaking screen plays!).

Well, then we can count on a long season!

What is the sense to have a strong arm at QB. a deep threat in Glenn. and not stretch the defense once in a while?

If we don't take a shot now and then., we will face an eight man front, and JJ will get murdered. The short underneath stuff will get you three points now and again, but we gotta go up top to get TD's. We have seen that crap for 5 years now and it doesn't produce.

I have to believe that with Bledsoe's drop back style, we have to be planning to go deep. No other reason to have signed him. Everyone will be setting their game plan to stop Witten, so Key and Glenn will be singled a lot. That's why I think we will be throwing deep, frequently!

If we stay underneath, we will be lucky to win 6 games.

I'd also sign a vet kicker. I'd be more comfortable with one of the Andersens, than Cortez.

I'm curious, where are you getting the 5.3 number?

Morency averaged 5.0 yards per carry, Davis averaged 4.9, while Hollings averaged 1.2. As a whole, the Texans had 114 yards on 28 carries (4.1 average).

And of Morency's 55 yards, 23 of them came on one carry.

We do have size & power up the middle of our defense--Jason Ferguson. Just gotta get my man healthy, and we have one of the best NTs in the league stuffing the middle.:strongarm
