Your Surprise "Makes The Cut" Guy

It would be very cool for him to make it. If he can become a JW disciple, anything is possible. Seeing we have no real star behind Jason, I'm all for it. What a story that could become.

Street should not be on the team come the regular season. I don't get why we carry guys like this as 3-4 year experiments. How many can you think of that actually turn into anything at all? At some point you have to figure that a sub par roster creates a sub par record.

There's the awful truth that you'd rather blind yourself to.

Each and every time this player has been called upon, he's ended up injured. Not once, not twice, but all three seasons the team used him, he came up lame.

That's fact.

And one that I'm capable of seeing and dealing with.

Apparently, your fandom requires you to overlook players' failings while mine does not.

Still doesn't change the FACT prior injuries aren't predictive. Since ur not arguing he can't play but apparently he'll fail due to injury then once again your argument is specious.

I think Gathers makes the team because:

  1. Jones likes to seem clever
  2. Escobar's injury
  3. Might get claimed off waivers or snatched off Practice Squad

Going to be tough. Has Witten, Escobar, Hanna and Swaim ahead of him. I think a year on the PS then he could over take Escobar and Swaim

from http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/2...jury-could-affect-readiness-2016-chance-swaim

Escobar suffered a torn Achilles injury on the final drive of Saturday night’s loss to the Jets. He limped off the field in obvious pain, and it wasn’t long before the Cowboys’ medical team diagnosed the injury. Head coach Jason Garrett even announced it in his postgame press conference.

While he’ll definitely miss the next two games, Escobar might be hard-pressed to get back in time for training camp and maybe the start of the regular season.

He's not making the 53

I don't see why he couldn't. It's not like there's a whole lot of production coming from anyone not named Witten. The fact that he actually has room to grow means he'd be the only TE who can really say that.

I like the Landry rule in that later picks should show something in their third year. So you might consider more patience. :)

Yeah, but the 'Landry Rule' was out into effect before free agency too.

That's cool. Different strokes for different folks.

Also doesn't change the FACT that Dunbar is always injured.

I've never said he can't play because of ability. I've said he can't play because of availability. And the lack thereof.

They'll put him on the PS if they can't fit him on the 53. He'll be around.

I hope so. I'd hate to see us having wasted a 6th round draft pick for someone else to scoop up for free.

Parcells talked to Landry a lot. He got the three year rule from him. It's not passe. Truth rarely goes out of style. I do think the cap and the initial contracts do mitigate the rule but not a lot if you discover you have a player. In the meantime you try to get them to play STs.

Patience Grasshopper.

LOL. That's not the issue. That's in the past. His injuries aren't predictive of another one so they are currently irrelevant.

Not disputing the fact he's been injured a lot. Just trying to get you to understand that means nada now. If you want to bemoan the absence of results based on expectations of more snaps/year so far then I'm listening intently. He's shown little return.

You'll have to forgive me, but after the debacle of 2015, I don't have a lot of patience with several of these players whose individual circumstances contributed to it.

You keep on laughing all you want, his multiple injuries are a fact and a matter of record. If your fandom blinds you to them, tell yourself whatever "predictive" stories you need. I see him for exactly what he is, an oft-injured player who can't be counted on.

Sorry, but I disagree that it means "nada". I have no interest in what collective stats say about hundreds of players. I care about the fact that Lance Dunbar is an unreliable player who is always hurt.

I no longer want to see the team get burned by relying on unreliable players.

Andy Jones, the WR from Jacksonville. His profile sounds a lot like Miles Austin minus the speed.

I don't create a ton of threads anymore. When I do, I try to do fun/interesting things where people can participate without feeling the need to write a long post or feel the need to argue with each other.

That being said - who ya got as a surprise guy to come out of nowhere and make the 53?

I'll go with Rico Gathers.

I second that, Rico makes the 53 !!!

Darius Jackson and Ed Eagan might not only surprise us by making the roster...but actually be a factor in our success this year.

I'm also interested in Frazier because he is built like Kam.

Ditto on Jackson.
