Your Surprise "Makes The Cut" Guy

he has a chance to take lucky whitehead's job.

I dont think we have seen the whole lucky story yet. No way he gets cut. They found ways to use his speed on offense and eased him into return roles. Lucky delivered. Looking forward to him getting some return tds this year.

And maybe you can't see that big number '6' right next to his name and where it says Dallas Cowboys?

I'll help you out since you obviously need it. It's the first number on the left!

:lmao:

Which player should they have taken instead? Maybe one of those guys in the 7th?

Yeah, after some early miscues and little involvement, I was ready for the team to move on from Whitehead, but they stuck with him and I saw a player that began to grow into his role and contribute. I don't see them cutting him now given the improvement and the fact that they stuck with him last year.

I think they feel that they truly have something in him.

No, I like the Gathers pick. And I think that they might have something in him. That's why I wouldn't want to see him get cut this year and risk another team claiming him.

You drafted a developmental guy, so develop him. Let him learn as much as he can from an all-time gat like Jason Witten and you might actually have something.

It's obvious to me that Escobar is another miss and he'll never be that guy.

No one is every going to be "that guy", as long as Witten is here. We've had a lot of guys through here, and those guys have gone on to be productive elsewhere. It's not them, it's us.

We can barely figure out how to get Dez the ball, how are we going to get a 2nd TE involved?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Escobar goes somewhere and is productive.

I won't take it away from him, Dunbar was making some nice contributions last year. But then, the same thing happened that's always happened with him. As soon as this team used him, he got injured. It's been the same thing through each and every year of his career. He's made it through exactly one. When the team never used him.

So if it's a choice of using him and watching him get injured yet again, or not using him so he can remain healthy, I'm choosing option C, cut bait and look for a more physically reliable player capable of handling the physical demands of pro football. Dunbar isn't that guy.

I'm ready to move on. I've seen enough repeated injury, or guys like McClain getting hurt in Week Two and being lost for the season.

And they haven't already shown that they'll be physically unreliable either. I'm ready to move on too.

Claiborne is the only guy I think turns it around but if Brown takes his spot with Mitchell I'm happy

We were arguing two different things then.

If they keep Rico and he somehow makes a play (shocker if they have him on active roster, bigger shocker if he is on plays other than ST)...they are required to play a portion of ...Gerardo from Rico Suave.

Alas, they probably couldn't find the english version. Maybe taco grande (weird Al) could work

i'm not rooting against whitehead by any means. i just think that he and street are most vulnerable in the wide receiver competition. street more so, and maybe chris brown of notre dame is the favorite to replace him. but eagan is a small school guy, so he'd be a bigger surprise.

Aren't they always? Then he steps on field in an actual game annnnnd......nothing. Again.

Haven't heard this kind of talk before. Mostly body development but also some speed and route running as well as much better understanding of the game.

This isn't directed at you personally but it has always amazed me the number of fans who dismiss what the coaches say. Now I realize some is coachspeak but they seem genuinely encouraged by the player. But you're right to wait and see how it translates to the field.

If I'm going with a surprise it's DE Jason Neill.

Maybe. I don't really think so. The guy has zero football experience. I doubt he'll be able to contribute at all. I'm not sure how many teams can waste a valuable roster spot on a player like that. I guess we'll see.

I think we'll keep him at least at the start of the year because Escobar won't be ready to go. When Escobar comes back, we can decide if Gathers is worth keeping on the 53.

Exactly. Time to start questioning whatever coach is saying this. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Stop being so damn skeptical Stash (except for Jerry). We'll wait and see what happens but it's not reasonable to dismiss every single thing they say.

I'm going with Jackson too.

Bye bye Dunbar. Sorry you could never stay healthy.

Doubt it unless he can't get on the field. If he can he adds something the others don't. Morris and McFadden need to be looking over their shoulders re Jackson.

I think he can have a Bennett-like post-Dallas career, even though he's not near the blocker. He'll possibly put up better receiving numbers.
