That is a good list but I would drop off Too Tall and add either Cliff Harris, Bill Bates, or Emmitt Smith. When Ed went off to try professional Boxing I kind of soured on him a little.

Why? He came back a better player.

I have to put Darren Woodson on these lists somewhere. He broke his forearm against the Ravens in the first half of a game in 2000, the Cowboys were about 3-7 and Woody played the entire second half with one arm.

That's toughness.

Any toughest Cowboy list without Don Meredyth on it is missing something.

Anyone who watched him play back when the Cowboys weren't very good saw him take a beating that most QBs couldn't stand up to. He wouldn't make a "most talented" QB list, but his teammates loved him and would play their guts out for him because he never left the field, not even with loose teeth hanging out of his mouth.

They called him Dandy Don, but that was one of the toughest Cowboys to ever wear the star.

If you're simply talking tough I'd go with these five in no specific order:

Emmitt Smith (no list would be complete without him. defined toughness)
Erik Williams (God I wish we had some current players with his nastiness)
Larry Allen (BEAST, nuff said)
Randy White (MANSTER, nuff said)
Troy Aikman (took many severe beatings especially early and late in his career and kept on ticking)

Honorable Mention:

Moose Johnson
Roger Staubach
Bill Bates
Jason Witten
Darren Woodson
Cliff Harris
Bob Lily

As much as I liked Harvey Martin, he doesn't belong on any of these lists. Thomas Henderson was one of his best friends and he said Harvey would be the last guy you would want watching your back in a dark alley.

Henderson's first choice: Roger Staubach.

Like someone else said, there should be two lists.

Guys you wouldn't want to fight:

1. Mark Tuinei (several teammates said he was the one guy nobody ever dared mess with).

2. Erik Williams

3. Randy White

4. Alonzo Spellman

5. Roger Staubach

And guys who played through injuries and endured pain.

1. Don Meredith

2. Walt Garrison

3. Bob Lilly

4. Emmitt Smith

5. Jason Witten

I forgot Walt Garrison. Has to be at least Honorable Mention.
