You've got to admit it about Quinn

Quinn has done good work. Am concerned he's been figured out, but that could be as simple as our front seven just being trash players.

I've no confidence in Quinn. I think his philosophy is all wrong. Speed does not win championships. I want size and physicality. He seems very set in his ways. I would trust the scouts judgement more than his. He seems to have a great deal of influence in the draft. I also don't like this obsession with the 3T position and trying to mould players into that. I feel apart from the studs on DEF (Parsons, Diggs,) there is very little quality there., which is his doing.
In short I would like him replaced.

This team was also 5th best in the league in points allowed. The issue with DQ is that he seems to struggle to adjust in season and proactively adjust his scheme year to year. He was great with the legion of boom in Seattle. Went to Atlanta where he was viewed as a good HC....until he wasnt. Now with his time in Dallas he was a great pick up, came in with a fresh new scheme, but it seems that teams caught up to what DQ was doing but nothing really changed. Is that DQ being stubborn or just stumped? Is that because the Cowboys didn't have the players to actually adjust to what offenses were doing to this team? I dont know the answer but one of those issues means you need a new DC, the other means you need someone else filling out the roster.

I will say thought that DQ returning isnt the worst thing in the world provided that we get better players at the second level.
If we could just get a rule where every opponent could only pass!!! DQ is a fraud as the DC.

I like where your head is at - if Sam Williams is as fast and athletic as everyone says let him have some time at LB - he couldn't be any worse than Clark.

I thought Jaylon Smith was the worst NFL LB I ever watched until Clark this year. Zero play recognition or instincts.
I just hope it doesn't take too long to find someone better than Clark. You got to do better than that.

I don’t think the safety position is fixed at all. Hooker and Kearse were both poor last season. Wilson is a decent player but inconsistent.
Didn't mean it was fixed, but it was given attention that it hadn't received in years!

They had a glaring issue all season with playing undersized fronts against physical teams.

I don't know how they ended up playing an LB who's 210 and another LB who can't read anything.

No adjustments but I'm not confident they know how to fix anything. Oh well.
The problem was the game Bell made all those plays, and we thought he was the next best thing!

Better find him soon before he makes a big stop on a qb at the 1 yard line, and he's given a 50 million dollar deal

I said this on my 3-4 post, try him at LB hell he's quick, just needs to work on his instincts and mental mistakes, who knows what could happen

Vince Lombardi wasn't going to coach this defense to a championship. Did the fans watch the game? You cannot have a LB (Clark) that is absolutely clueless flanked by 210 lb safety's and not expect to be exposed. The only chance we had all year was to get a big lead and make the other team throw the ball.

Any games where it was close, or the other team was physical running the ball, we were destroyed.

We need LB's in the worst way. Biggest need for this team IMO.
They definitely need to draft at least one LB because Overshown is gonna need time to regain his form from his injury. Chances are that takes 1/2 the season and probably more.

When things were good, they were GOOD. Look at how he fixed the safety position on this team, this was a position that wasn't valued on this team for years. Look at his input into signing players like a Hankins because he knew we needed bigger bodies. Also might I include Ridgeway, Bohanna, Mazi Smith etc. He's also had personal meetings and worked out players on the DL who he really liked. Did it turn out well, did we draft the other guy he liked last year, no, but he still has a good eye for working with DL guys. Now as far as the playoff game, we know he wasn't great, this season hasn't been great at times. We can't just act like the guy didn't come in here and change things around from the previous disaster of a coach we had. If he does return, I think he sees what the issues are, it's time to get bigger and more aggressive. Putting guys in position who aren't the right size, has to be looked at closer, because it's hurting our defense. Please give your thoughts......
Some crap smells better than others, but it's still crap.

His defenses strike fear in nobody.

I get it. Quinn took a really bad defense and made them good. But they have been exposed. What he did with the defense against the Packers was inexcusable. Maybe he has an explanation.

I will be the first to admit that ignoring the interior defensive line, or making it an afterthought for so many years is a big part of the problem. And I also admit that I do not know who is responsible for some of the questionable moves we saw this year.

For example, whose decision was it to go light on LBs this year? Who chose to let Evans and Harper go when they were already down Overshown and LVE? Who told Mazi to lose so much weight when this defense was already small? Imagine trying to play NFL football against 330 lbs offensive linemen while you are in the process f dropping 40 lbs. Who had Micah dropping into coverage on 3rd and 9? I don't care if it was once or twice. Who lined Micah up against Trent Williams most of that game when he should have been exploiting the weaker side of the 49ers OL? Who decided to start playing so soft about 11 games into the season? Who decided to play zone against GB when clearly the players were not prepared for it. Receivers were wide open all day due to blown coverages. Who was responsible for that?

I think Jerry and Mike McCarthy will grill Quinn on all of these topics before Jerry makes a decision but unless Quinn admits he needs to go bigger in the middle I would let him go.

Whenever I hear the Cowboys are soft, and not physical enough I think that starts with the defense. I think the teams plays like the coach coaches. The defense needs to be more physical by a lot. Does Quinn have that in him? His defense is not playing like a team of disciplined football players. That's on him.

His defenses frequently don't hold up at the end. They're completely gassed from being on the field and bending all day. Then, they break.
