He ran a 4.8 40. At 301LBS, that is pretty impressive. He is also pretty strong (31 reps/225LBS).
Hopefully Marinelli and company can teach him how to play football.

He might be strong, but he needs to sink his hips better to avoid getting uprooted and planted on his back like he did earlier in the game. That's one reason he played better at the 3-tech than at the 1. The 3-tech allowed him to use this quickness to penetrate the gap. The 1 forced him to try to hold his gap and the offensive linemen got lower and caved him.

Despite his initial big splash, Minter's true reputation is yet to be earned as a Cowboy. Yes, there's no question he got off to an impressive initial outing but playing vs. the #1s in preseason games #3 & 4 will go a very long way toward deciding his fate. All eyes will be on him in the next couple of games to determine if a roster spot for him is justlfied. If it's not to be, rest assured the defensive staff will be beating the bushes to locate a promising DE candidate, whether it's through a trade or via the waiver wire. There's certain to be some very promising candidates being cut from several of the DE-rich teams like Seattle, St. Louis and others.

Speaking of Belushi filmsI really like Zach Minter's explosiveness and quickness. Thus they should call him the HUMAN ZIT. Flounder just doesn't match his traits and skill set.

He earned a preseason shot. That's it. If he can't do the same vs #1s, it doesn't really matter.

Both Ratliff (4.85) and Okoye (4.88) ran similar 40's at similar weight, give or take 10 lbs. In fact Minter was faster than both.

Yep. That's part of learning how to play football. Learning proper technique to go along with your natural talents.

True. If he kicks tail vs. a #3 guard who offers no resistance, it's really not to his credit but to the other guy's shame. Resistance is far more likely to be challenging him in the upcoming two weeks. Everything is riding on how he handles the stiffer competition.

That's him! :)

I seem to remember about 5-6 years ago there was someone that in like the second to last preseason game had 3 sacks and we never heard from him again. Trying to remember his name.
