Weak argument? Did you miss the part about the Broncos being held to 7 points to the Seahawks? You're saying the best thing for a top 5 offense with the worst defense in franchise history is more offense? This is a defense wins league. Always has been. The Seahawks, 49ers, Ravens, Steelers have been owning the league for years. The great Peyton has one championship. So does Rodgers. Brady has no rings since he's come into his prime.

Did you miss the point about how we aren't going to be that good a D regardless? Build on you strength to become an elite offense. Not on your weakness to become a mediocre D. We'll be mediocre whether we go D in the first or not.

This is an offense wins league. 2013, Ravens won with an O that ranked better than their D. 2012, Giants O ranked better than their D. 2010, same deal with the Saints.

In fact, really the only times it is "defense wins" has been when we've seen a team that was among league's best D. Hawk's #1, Pack #2, Steelers #1.

Your argument that Manning only has 1 ring is ridiculous. There are 32 teams in the league. Getting a single ring is a major accomplishment. Your Rodgers point is similarly ridiculous given that he has started a grant total of six seasons. Brady has three rings. His "prime?" Please. The dude has three rings and two SB MVPs and you are calling his prime some later period? Quit hitting off the fantasy football crack pipe

And I'd be a happy camper. The OL is not close to being a force for the Cowboys. They have a good nucleus with Smith and Fredericks, but they need starting guards and a right tackle. I think they can pick up a guard in the middle rounds. Donald will probably be gone by 16, and depending on how the rest of the first 15 picks play out, the best player available may be Martin. Again, I'm all for that.
The way this defense gave up points last year gave up points ladt year i dont understand some of you. The same every year. We need 2 starters in first 2. Picks.Ill consider s h like Dozier from furman or Trai Turner Lsu in 3rd round. To me spencer changes nothing im going De, Dt or vicr versa. Donalds gone trading down for another 2. Id get Ealy in 1st if trade down., then a dt and ol in Second. Possible s in 3rd

Taking guys in the first and 2nd isn't going to transform us to a great D. We are going to be mediocre regardless.

You don't force a pick on D just because the D sucks. You pick the best player available so long as he plays ANY position of need. Bad teams make mistakes when they end up reaching.

That doesn't mean the first two picks can't be D - but we need to make good value picks. We can't be passing up an OL player with a mid first grade to reach for a DE who has a late first grade based on need.

Great pick. Very happy with that, considering our options.

Same here, when Donald went off the board Martin was the guy I was rooting for at 16.

The added bonus is that for years, Martin is going to be a better player for the Cowboys than Beckman is for the Giants.

I'm getting optimistic about the Cowboys future. You win football in the trenches. Smith, Frederichs, Leary (if he stays healthy) and Martin. That could be the line for many years to come. Now the Boys need to hit on some defense in the next few rounds.

Solid pick, finish off one unit to be a long term force..........have a unit on the team, in the trenches that one announcer already now called as good as any in the League after this pick

Because it worked so great against the Broncos last season.

And even the best offense in NFL history put up 7 points against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. It is not and never will be an offensive league. Maybe in the regular season, but defense will always win championships.
How then did Indy, New Orleans win sb's?

If you think about this pick over the next five years, it really takes the OL from good to great. Next year its Smith-Leary-Fred-Martin-Free and the following year its Smith-Leary-Fred-(pick)- Martin. If we luck into Brandon Thomas later in the draft, we have our OL set for five years - and its a very, very good OL.

Or Trai Turner and fix it this year. Would be thrilled with Thomas but wouldn't mind grabbing James Hurst OT in the 4-6th round pick
