Who holds out with 2 years left on a contract and holds the organization over a fire? If the holdout had occurred after a couple MVP or super bowl winning seasons I would understand a bit more. But that's not how it went down. It was pure greed, nothing else.

Heck with him..... hope he gets cut.
Whoever gets to negotiate with the Joneses, if they're considered a star and promotable.

He and his agent went to school on how they treated Demarco Murray and Elliott knew he had to strike now. And no way he makes the money he's made if he doesn't do that.

Maybe he doesn't if they don't trigger the option 5th year but they did.

Don't blame the players, they're doing what's best for them and it is not their responsibility to manage management's expenses.

Blaming Prescott, Lawrence, Elliott or any other player for cap issues is misplaced.

Yes we can discuss if the contract is worth the player...but there is no discusion on who is at fault for the contract.

We will see what? Pollard won't be asked to carry the ball 20+ times every game. No TB really is asked to do that anymore.

It's peculiar the lengths people are going here to try to justify the stance we NEED Elliott back. Granted, nothing is as bad as Duncan claiming he knows exactly the recovery time and how effective Pollard will be going forward based off a photo.
Zeke has value. Not at his present salary, but do you really want your prime running back (Pollard) smashing in tds from the 2-yard line or smashing into 600 lbs. of dts to get 1 yard for a first down?

Would be nice to have Zeke available just for those situations, wouldn't' it?

Assuming the money is doable, or course....

No.

What I would have done is totally gut the RB room. But they want Pollard back, so what I would do is try to get Pollard signed on a decent deal and lower his cap hit this year. I'd cut Elliott (regular or June 1) if he won't take a MAJOR pay cut (his base needs to be like $2-3 million). I then hit FA as there are going to be some really solid options in FA that can do what you got from Elliott. Then I hit the middle rounds as this is a very deep RB class.

So in theory, next year I could have:

Pollard
FA TB
Midround TB like a McIntosh from UGA or Spears from Tulane

So no, we don't "need" Elliott.

Not at all, you are the one embarrassing yourself.
Reminding you that cowboy roy once said "zeke is only rushing champion because of number of carries"....then I showed him Emmitt's number of carries and he put me on ignore. Ignore facts...then run around bullying people about "football knowledge".

Good thing I'm not in charge around these parts. I do not stand for crap like that.

NO!!!!!!! The point is you can draft a RB in the 3rd or 4th and get the same production you can from Zeke and he would be on a rookie deal.

If you don't trust a rookie, sign a vet. There are always vet RB's looking for work.

The Cowboys have to get out of that horrible contract Zeke has and the sooner the better.

Zeke at ANY price isn't worth a roster spot. Not even at a vet minimum.

For the record, I'm in the cut Zeke and draft new, young backs camp. But if Zeke ends up being on the team, and Pollard is on the team, we should just roll with a 3-headed monster, and roll with 3 backs.

I think teams will start using more 3-back systems, too, in the future, just to try to add some longevity to RBs careers. Players like Pollard can play 7-8 years, if they split the carries.

If they plan on keeping Zeke, honestly, I can even see them drafting someone like Achane.. He's going to be like a little Sproles for some team. But the back I really like is Abinikanda.
3 headed monster? LMAO. More like 2 heads and a limp noodle.

Given Dallas' checkered history of picking free agents (like James Washington, e.g.), and later round draft picks they might still prefer Elliot.
Cowboys have until June 1 to decide, we'll know by then at the latest what they will do....
