Discounting Injury from this question:

What will it take for you to consider Zeke the right pick his first season? Second season? His first contract?

What does he have to do for you to believe he is a bust? And in what time frame.

I am interested in both the Zeke fans and the fans who think this was a huge error.

Also, Zeke will affect more than just his stats. He SHOULD have a major affect on the offense as a whole. But keep in mind that his play does not remove Romo from the equation. So one might conclude with Zeke's results, Romo's results will be better/worse.

Again, injury is not an element of this
questionnaire. Simply, what does he have to do to convince you he was not only the right guy to chose at four, but the only guy?

Or what convinces you this was a tragic error in the realm of Bobby Carpenter or Morris Claiborne? Or worse?

Thanks in advance for your reply. All opinions welcome.

Well the right decision was moving up for Wentz and enjoying eternal football life. If I'm right on him then there is simply no way we don't regret this decision. It may be the biggest mistake of the Jerry era.

Elliott was the best you could do at 4. The only player worth the pick.

Randy Moss wants to talk to you.

So does Deion.

The team got a pretty good look at Wentz at the senior bowl-- they didn't want to move up for him.

The Browns even traded out of that spot once there was word that the Rams were going with Goff. The freaking Browns.

If Wentz succeeds then fine. But I just don't see the can't miss opportunity that you see. No more than any other year.

I think Ramsey may have been worth the 4th pick but I was too iffy on him to pass up Zeke who was just as good and a safer pick.

I agree.

I liked Wentz and he could've been a great player but a lot of teams didn't see him worthy of the pick or the best QB in the draft.

The Rams, Browns and virtually every team in between where the Browns and Eagles picked that could've used a QB didn't see the need in that much of an investment in him. If the consensus of NFL GM's really saw Wentz as a QB with Andrew Luck potential, the Eagles would've never had an opportunity to make a jump that high.

I'm pulling for Zeke 100%,of course.

Still, if at all possible, I was hoping for a trade down to capture far more of that extra value we had in the bank at #4. I mean, the #4 pick buys you approximately TWO mid 1st rounders.

Instead, we spent the entire stash on a RB at 4.
At least it was a RB with superstar potential! That's the silver lining if we want to be positive.

So...go Zeke!

Big Wentz fan but still am unsure if he will be a franchise QB. Elliott in Dallas is a different scenario than most "elite" backs picked that high. Most of those guys never played on a team with a franchise QB in place. A Pro Bowl WR in place. A Pro Bowl TE in place. AND an OL with 3 Pro Bowl players and a LG that legitimately can become the 4th. Dorsett joined a team comparable in his rookie season except his defense was unreal as well!!! Lol!

If he doesn't get injured...the sky is the limit for this kid as long as Romo and Dez are on the field. Double digit TDs and over 1200 yds. Honestly want to see him push for the great ED's rookie record...

I think Lamar Miller is the bar, as we could have had him in FA for roughly the same amount of money, and he is a proven commodity who can run, catch and pass block. After being frustrated in Miami I am sure he would have loved to be the feature back in this offense if we seriously pursued him and would have also excelled behind this line.

Considering we could have signed him and then used that #4 on a much needed Ramsey or traded down to fill in even more holes on the team, Zeke needs to significantly outperform Miller or the pick was a flat mistake.

Not saying he will or he won't, just seems like a natural measuring stick to me.

He doesnt have to be Adrian Peterson because he is not as good an athlete. However his career should have a HOF track. My reason being if you are going to take a RB at number 4 overall in the draft, he needs have that kind of ability. If injuries cut his career short but he was on that trajectory I will be OK with it. I'd bet anything he wont bust, the question is will he end up being worth the pick.

Well, if you stupidly listen to Josh Ellis, the only way the pick is justified is if Elliot rushes for 2000+ yards, because "any back in this draft can produce behind this offensive line". Its a stupid view that doesn't take into account, receiving, pass protection, home run ability, just being a viable threat on the field, etc.

I liked the Zeke pick from the moment it was made. The argument "any back can run behind this line" is flawed. Does anybody here really believe Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris can run the Cowboys to the Super Bowl?

How did Derrick Lassic fare in 1993 behind the best offensive line in history while Emmitt Smith held out? I personally believe the running back matters- at least, they matter when they're as talented as Elliott. Dallas didn't just take a running back, they took a special running back.

Zeke will be an elite running back.
There is no way he will bust. In fact he has the potential to be the very best RB in the league.

We hit a home run with this pick.

HYPE!

Then he gets hurt and all is lost.

You must have just recently heard of Zeke. Go watch some full game footage at Ohio St and see how durable he is.

You must have just recently heard of the running back position and their average careerspan and injury rate.

I've watched about 70% of so of all the snaps that Zeke has played. I think he is a first round talent. I thought he was on par with the better runner/worse receiver in Melvin Gordon.
