If RB was felt to be a need it certainly wasn't one of the bigger needs and a guy like Paul Perkins could have been had in the 4th.
This is an obvious valid point, assuming Romo stays healthy for a few more seasons.

But Garrett tells Jerry how much he relied on Emmitt out of the backfied when Aikman was injured, and later Stephen says one of the reasons he liked Zeke was because he should take some pressure off the backup QB.

You said the Cowboys couldn't have had Wentz because he wasn't available at 4. You said they also could have had Luck too.

You're all over the map in your mad quest to defend this failed team at all cost.

I said they didn't miss out because he wasn't available at their pick. I never said they couldn't have traded for him, in fact I said they could have but chose not to because the cost outweighed their like of the player.

Frankly, I'm not defending anything at this point. How good Wentz is or is not is a total unknown at this point. It would be unwise for me to say Wentz will fail when I have no idea of if he will or not.

As it is unwise to say he will be a star before he's done anything at the most difficult position in all of sports.

Wentz went from a mid 2nd round pick, or even bottom 3rd in the 2nd round to a possibly overall 1st. This transpired after ONE game after he returned from a broken wrist. In the lower level college ranks. He then moved up into the late 1st round from that game. Then the mediots started their talk and up he moves some more. After the senior bowl, and combine and all the talk for needs of a QB sent him toward the top.
He was like a hot commodity stock pick. Does he move up or down at this point.

I started back in November saying I would take him in the 2nd round, and even at #4 at one point in time. But as Elliot became more a reality I wanted Zeke, and then any of the other QB's left in the 2nd.
Wentz flew up the charts as Lynch flew down the charts. I always thought in the long run, Lynch would eventually be the best of them all in this draft.

Wentz can be a bust, or he can be great, or he can be Sam Bradford...time will tell...

He only move up on the draftniks boards and the so l-called experts boards. I have a feeling that he was much higher on NFL team boards the entire time.

About what? How missing out on an elite franchise QB is the most crippling mistake a team can make in personnel?

I'll trade you 2 Randy Mosses and a Deion Sanders for Aaron Rodgers.

How about 1 Marcus Spears?

You must have just recently heard of the running back position and their average careerspan and injury rate.

I've watched about 70% of so of all the snaps that Zeke has played. I think he is a first round talent. I thought he was on par with the better runner/worse receiver in Melvin Gordon.

Melvin Gordon was not nearly as accomplished a pass catcher or pass blocker.

The Elliott pick was not just about running the football. It was about him being a complete back, which is rare.

I was not a fan of this pick at all, but I am hoping he proves me wrong!

It will be his impact on the offense. If he is out there making big plays, moving the chain and putting the ball in the endzone as well as providing protection for Romo then he is getting his job done. I'm more concerned with team results than individual numbers. The justification of the pick or any pick is their impact they make for the good of the team.
