Zeke's ship sailed 100% when Jerry gave his 21 number to Gillmore. That was the nail right there.

If you're saying that that's a sign that reveals true intentions, I have no problem with that.

Intentions.

I fully believe that Jerry and Zeke fully believe that there will be a non-Cowboys opportunity that will eventually arise that Zeke will take.

But intentions are intentions. Beliefs are beliefs.

Your contention of "100%" and "nail" represents an overreach.

There is a fluidity in the Cowboys RB room. That's the only "100%" right now about that situation. Only.

There is reason...reason... to be persuaded that Zeke could be the best resolution to that... just as I previously outlined. But he's not wrong to wait to see if there's not a better situation for his purposes... just as Jerry/Stephen are not wrong to have a number they're willing to pay and defiant to go any higher.

At this point Zeke has less value than a UDFA at RB

Blimey!
You'd think tha Barklley and the rest of the Free World would know better that to fear/respect Zeke.
But Barkley, I assume, is in on the joke.
Zeke is finished, I say, finished.
Care to place a gentlemanly wager?

Nothing silly, like forum banishment. Maybe a pint or two.

I think Zeke was injured (not think...was!). I think KM doesn't know how to design an effective NFC run game that protects the RBs...not expose them and force them to "showcase their speed to the outside".

I'm not saying Zeke is 2016 fit. But with a "reasonable" contract....and more adept coaching/game planning....he can still contribute. (not saying NYG has that...certainly no worse than DC.)

Maybe NYG will make him hike the ball a lot. Now THAT will give the haters something to cheer about.

Please don;t waste your time with Roy. He was a hater from the get go. I think he's a bama fan still sore from the 2014 arse-whipping.

Yeah, these Zeke backers here need to give it up and admit the guy is a shell of himself. Some even still think he will be back in Dallas. Disillusional. He needs to be happy he got paid and just go on with his life, at least he's healthy enough to live a good life with his family now.
You act like zeke haters suddenly appeared when zeke turned in his #21. Roy hated him even when he was winning NFL rushing championships.

I don't blame anyone for "moving on". It's what SHOULD be done! But these snide and.... crappy.... comments just show what kind of humans we really are.

"oh let's think of something NASTY that will show everyone how cool and in the know we really are!"

Meanwhile...zeke did everything we asked him to do. Play hurt...block for the terrible o-line. WE...ruined HIM...not the other way around.

I hear that, but look, I barely pay attention to the name of the poster I happen to be replying to, as a general rule... so it's more about just putting it out there for other readers than it is to aspire to persuading any individual poster to think differently. I hate for Roy to be so passionately persuaded he doesn't have to see Zeke in a Cowboys uni anymore, as it appears he might be, but oh well. We all get passionate sometimes about our conclusions, me included. But my response is for the persuadable, not the non-persuadable, and there still can be some of those out there.

No way do I want Zeke. Why would I want a guy even your team doesn’t want? Lol

Btw, I hear this message board is going to change its name to Dakzone.com. Any truth in that? Lol

I'm a defender.

That doesn't mean I fail to see he's got some persuading to do. He does.

But I'm among those who believe he still has something in the tank at 28 yrs old, if only he can get his knees healthy and keep them healthy.

And... don't hyperventilate... but I'm still among those who believe there's a number where Jerry and Zeke can agree for him to return this season. The question is whether someone goes down with an early training camp injury somewhere else first, allowing him a better payday and a higher probability of playing time. But I'm totally on the bus that says Zeke... healthy Zeke, that is... is an almost perfect fit beside Pollard. No question in my mind.
Bad knees don't get healthier after injuries and age.

No team can benefit from a 2 yard specialist and is why he hasn't been signed. The league knows what is up with Zeke. There is nothing Zeke can offer a team that they can't get from any given running back for a lot cheaper.
I think he'd rather just wait and skip training camp. That's what a lot of vets do these days.

If the Giants let Barkley walk and signed Zeke they wouldnt win 7 games. LOL

Danny Dimes and Zeke Idiot!! What a team that would be? LOL

Danny would actually be their best runner.
For some people it's hard to let go. Zeke is not worth a penny more than vet league minimum. If that. Zeke is not that player anymore. I'd take a speedy UDFA RB at 1/5 the cost over Zeke.

Isn't Barkley tagged? Did he not sign the tag yet? What does he plan to do, follow in Bell's footsteps and not play the year? He's nuts for turning down that 12M a year contract.

You mention Zeke being injured. That’s the thing about older, worn down RB’s. They’re constantly getting injured. The body just doesn’t recover week to week like it does when they’re in their young 20’s.

Yes even older worn down RB’s can have games or moments where they shine again. But the issue is they can’t maintain any type of consistency because their bodies get beat up and hurt and stay beat up and hurt because it just doesn’t recover like it used to.

And again, this isn’t a knock on Zeke. It’s just how the human body works. It happens to every RB at some point.

It’s like my grandfather used to say all the time. “Getting old sucks, but there’s only one alternative”

The team should have given him time to heal. Another adage is...playing hurt gets you more hurt.

Some guys will take themselves out with a hangnail. Zeke isn;t one of those guys. The coaches and med staff should have sat him.

Good thing you run your own team and have Lombardis!
