Zeke partied himself off the team.
Not really. Partying doesn't have any affect on knees as far as I'm aware. You're both just looking at the output, not the explanation for the output. I'm sober enough to acknowledge Zeke is an old 28, given all the wear and tear he's endured. He's almost certainly had all the 200+ carry seasons he's going to have. But we don't need much.At this point in his career zeke is really just an additional blocker.
I'm sure I'm not the first to remind everyone that, until this happened in week 7 against the Lions...
... Zeke was putting together a nice season in the follow-up from the previous knee-impaired season. Had a middling 4.1 yds per carry up to that point, but given the context where he got virtually all of the calls for short yardage situations, that's pretty damn good actually.
He's truly the perfect complement to Pollard... as long as... his knees let him be all he can be. And with a reduced workload of 100-200 carries, that's not improbable.
The question isn't Zeke the player.
The question is the contract. Can you sign him for some number that is congruent with the reduced role you'd be asking him to take... or will some other team offer him a bigger role and a bigger number before it's all said and done.
