Hell, even the first run of the game, he EXPLODED and got 20
On the one run down the near side of the field where he hit another gear is all I needed to see! Looked real fast.

I was skeptical on Zeke. Kept waiting to see what all the hype was about. I'm an Iowa Hawkeyes fan, so naturally I can't stand Ohio State. I kept watching all these RB's come out of there in recent years (Beanie Wells, Carlos Hyde, etc) to all the hype, and thinking it wasn't merited, and for the most part, being proven right.
Then, we have Zeke coming out and people are calling him the best back to come out since AP. I thought it was way over the top. I wanted Jalen Ramsey and to improve our defense. The first two games I was incredibly unimpressed. He didn't know how to run in the NFL. Yeah the Giants stacked the box, but he wasn't taking what was there. To que Joseph Randle, he left some meat on the bone.
What I saw last night showed that it clicked for Zeke. His patience, ability to plant his foot and cut upfield in our zone runs was beautiful. His ability to pick up tough yards in 3rd and 2 in a man blocking scheme was beautiful. His ability to finish runs and punish defenders like Demarco in 14 was on full display. He has the speed to bounce outside and make something out of nothing like he showed on the 4th down run. And the the hurdle. I'm not a fan of hurdling in football as it opens you up to a litany of negative consequences, but man it looked pretty.
I was skeptical. I'm not anymore. Dude showed his true colors and ability, and there's no reason to think we can't have a season like 2014. Maybe not 12-4, but definitely riding an elite running game, and elite passing compliment to a division title. We may be a bit limited where we can go due to our defense, but we literally have a top 5 RB running behind the best Oline in football. Let's enjoy this year, because even if it doesn't end in a Lombardi, we are completely set for the future with Dak, Dez, and Zeke.
That is what i'm hoping for and what I would bet on as well.
People on this forum though are acting like last night was something great. Statistically it was awesome but the guy was advertised as a special RB and outside of his leap over the defender it was a bunch of normal.
We drafted a supposed homerun hitter and we're just getting base hits.
I don't deny that he can still improve and 'special' may not be the right adjective, but 'normal' isn't fair either. He had 2-3 plays where a normal RB would have been caught, but his world-class speed left the defense in the dust. Combine it with his ability to power forward and fall forward, something that McFadden, Randle and plenty of other normal RBs don't hvae. That is what i'm hoping for and what I would bet on as well.

Lets see how many of these guys come here and compare Zeke to Ramsey after 37 year old Steve Smith took Ramsey to school yesterday.

Obviously, this is his best game yet.
He did some tough running against the Bears, but he also took a lot of hits. I don't think you want your running back getting battered like that for 16 games, but it was interesting to see that he's playing more physical in the NFL that he did in college.
In college, it was rare he took square hits but right from preseason, he seemed to want to challenge NFL players physically.
That's just not the case. Ramsey has been a very good player so far. He's been their best corner, which is saying a lot for a rookie. Ramsey didn't shadow Smith, so you can't put all of his production on Ramsey.

Many teams have won world series with manufacturing runs with base hits and stolen bases. Can't swing for the fense every pitch and expect a home run every time.
So in translation...those 5 yeard runs add up for several reasons...it keeps the chains moving and wears down the defense...then the ultimate goal is the TD...
dude, you are being over critical...he is doing what he is supposed to do and within the game plan....move the ball....and when he gets that long TD run, it will be because that defense is worn down. And because it was a great effort by Zeke and the OL if he gets it when the D is not worn down.
Explain how's he's been "very good." Rivers took him to school last week, the defensive backfield for them has been a nightmare so far, and he doesn't have single INT or pass breakup.
Or it is not saying much for the Jaguars.
Yeah he has balled out so far this year.He didn't allow a single pass against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay. He locked Steve Smith up for the most part yesterday, with the majority of his production coming against the other guys. I didn't get to watch him last week, but read that he played very well. PFF has him at 80, which is an above average player and better than Mo has been this year.
Jalen Ramsey is a stud, folks. He's loud, sure, but he's a stud.

I'm not being overly critical.
We used a top 5 pick on a RB. The standard needs to be raised.
Getting what is blocked over and over isn't good enough. We can find that anywhere. If this was our 3rd round pick i'd be fine with this.
We've been on this forum crying the last 2 weeks because "the best OL in football" and our top 5 pick at RB can't beat 8 in the box.
Then he plays a team that provides a little space and he is just getting what is there.
I disagree that he's just getting whats blocked for. Disagree completely. He's shown ability to bounce outside, run inside, explode through the hole, finish, and fall forward. First two weeks not so much, but we saw everything come together last night. Will there be growing pains? Absolutely. Will he improve over the course of the season? Absolutely.
