Elliott knows they have shifted more to Dowdle as the main running back between the 10s so his best bet to get carries and to stay on the team and active roster is to score touchdowns inside the red zone.
I don't blame him because most players in that situation would try to get more carries, but he does not power through tackles nearly as well as he used to in years past.
The Cowboys need running backs that hit the hole fast, and more importantly, keep their feet under them.
That is the main reason I have never been a big fan of Elliott's. Unless you are a fullback, I believe running backs should have good balance and keep their feet under them except when diving.
When Elliott runs North-and-South, he has always tended to lean too far forward so even when he breaks through the line he's already heading toward the ground unless someone hits him enough to help him regain his balance.
