Who was/is the better back while in Dallas? Pretty similar stats for games played. Zeke is the goal line king. Interestingly, Zeke's 3.6 per carry matches Murray's last year. 3.6 DeMarco's year in Philly was really pedestrian.

With Dallas
Ezekiel 103 games 1881 carries 8262 yards 4.4 pa 68 TDs 80yds gm 305 rec 2336 yds 7.7 yds per rec
DeMarco 53 games 934 carries 4526 yards 4.8 pa 28 TDs 85yds gm 171 rec 1200 yds 7.0 yds per rec

Career
DeMarco 99 games 1604 carries 7174 yards 4.5 pa 49 TDs 72yds gm 307 rec 2165 yds 6.8 yds per rec

Zeke was better in Dallas overall but Demarco's 2014 was better than Zeke's 2016.

I loved Zeke in his prime. He's still a solid back, he's just more of a short yardage, goalline guy now, and if we're being honest, more of a FB now. And if we moved him to a FB he might be one of the all time greats by the end of his career.

I also loved Murray in his prime.

Both guys were ground to a pulp early in their prime years.

The mistake we made with Zeke that we didn't with Murray, was signing him to a huge deal. RBs just aren't worth massive contracts any more. They are easily replaceable with cheaper draft picks.

Jerry saw Demarco still killing it in Tennessee and felt like he made the wrong decision so he overcorrected and signed Zeke to the massive deal.

Murray,easy...no off field trouble,no suspension,no headaches...but that doesn't mean I don't like Zeke,I always liked Demarco better.

Murray always had nagging injuries and would sit until his contract year and he had could not hold onto the ball. Too many fumbles fortunate many were not lost or were fumbles out of bounds. Good guy but a fumbler.

Elliott simply for his ability to stay on the field (outside of 2017)

But when they were on the field, this forum really really overrates Zeke. He had a great season in 2016 behind a similar O-Line Murray with relatively similar production, and after that, Zeke steadily started to fade until we are where we are now. After the 2017 season, Zeke lost his burst. That wear and tear from college and the high number of carries in 2016 took it's toll.

Elliott has had his fair share of fumbles as well - 2 seasons with 6 fumbles and one with 5. They weren't that far off, he got really lucky in his rookie season that only one of his 5 were lost the same as his 2018 season. That wasn't the case in 2020 when he had 5 lost fumbles out of 6.

Zeke is honestly not that far off from Murray in the fumbling department. To put in perspective

Murray had 18 fumbles on 1,604 carries and Zeke has 22 fumbles on 1,873 carries
