Zeke wants to stay in Dallas

Maybe Zeke is willing to take a pay cut because he loves being a Dallas Cowboy and is proud to have the star on his helmet. Like many old school players did.

You can argue his results all day, and I get that, I see them too. But I don't think you can question his effort. The guy has given up his body to the Cowboys.

I also understand folks being mad at him for holding out. But he was smart enough to see they were going to run him into the ground and he chose to get paid while his stock was still sky high. Can't blame a guy for that. Blame Jerry for caving and paying him.

I’ve maintained, I’d be happy to have him back at 1/5th his current salary.
The issue is more than money. At this point he's a short yardage back who can pass block. But the coaching staff/organization here will continue to use him as a viable 1a or 1b RB which he clearly is not. It's best for the team to let him walk.

Ezekiel Elliott has played his entire NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, and he is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to ensure that continues.

Bleacher report
Knowing Jerry, he'll likely get one. That will make both of them very happy. Not so much with many fans but they're entitled to their opinions.

He's a warrior. Yeah, he held out early, but I think even then he knew his body would wear out sooner. It's cool if he is willing to take a pay cut, but even to vet minimum I'm not sure. He's worn out. It's sad but true. I don't think he has enough left in him to even merit vet minimum. If someone else signs him, I wish him well and thank him for putting his body through all of that for the Cowboys and hope they sign him for one day when he retires.

Even taking a pay cut he will be grossly overpaid unless it’s league minimum with incentives.

So what 3rd strings then do you have on most teams?

And they're all better> Okay...show us which ones.
Pollard was 7th in yards per carry this year. Zeke was 42nd. Same offensive line.

I know Zeke got most of the goal line carries. But most starting rbs around the league get those as well and it doesn't make their ypc nosedive.

They have new ultra sound that reverses aging in Cells. Literally makes you younger. Maybe Zeke can do that in off season. Only slightly kidding.

Those saying Pollard comes back on a team-friendly deal for an injury that will heal in a few months, thereby giving Pollard 8 months before the start of the new season, are being misguided as Pollard will still command a solid deal on the open market. Dallas can franchise tag him but I do not think it will go over well.

As for Zeke, Jerry will be what he is and restructure Zeke's deal to keep him in Dallas just like he will restructure Dak's deal.

Nothing will change in Dallas as they will ignorantly feel they are close and in the mean time other teams will get better and Dallas will continue you their lack of an NFC Championship/Super Bowl appearance.

Notice his tone......he can't predict the future but def wanna stay and is willing to take a pay cut. Trust me, if he's telling us this, Jerry and Stephen know but apparently haven't given him any feedback on their intentions. I think it's entirely possible they may treat his release the same as Dez.........no pay-cut offered or was not an option, only a release.

My understanding is it's a 3-month injury, meaning he can't pass a physical until at least May, two months after free agency starts, not to mention it's a strong RB market. I guess we'll see but I don't see him getting a strong long-term or guaranteed offer.

Jerry signed Dak to a lucrative contract 5 months after a devastating ankle injury so it is possible that a team is willing to offer Pollard a quality contract.

Pollard is going to see a robust market as he turned into one of the leagues marquee playmakers in the first season he got real opportunity to get out from behind zeke. So, not only is he a young dynamic playmaker but he doesn't have much tread on the tires. We can't afford to lose him but can we afford to pay him? You bet. He is basically going to get Zeke's money after we cut zeke.

It would have to be a huge pay cut. Otherwise, I’d let him go.
He isn’t fat by any means, but if Zeke dropped 15/20 pounds he would pick up some speed and garner interest in the open market.

I didn’t blame him for anything. I just made the observation he looks done… has no burst and that the impression I got from his after game interview… that he had even come to that realization!
Looking at the game again last night...I think he "cashed it in". It doesn;t say a lot for his work ethic....but...the Cowboys sucked all his effort and mojo couple years ago.

I don't think he ever cashed it in. He's just a RB who lost his juice. It happens to them all, some quicker/sooner than others. He's had a good career at both OSU and now the Dallas Cowboys. But it's over unfortunately. The team needs to move on. His days as a viable 10+ carry/game RB are over, especially on this team where we all agree we need to lean on the running game. An upgrade is needed to supplement Pollard's carries.

Are there currently teams looking for a fat running back on the decline? I mean other than us.
