Just me, but I'm 100% confident they are not bringing BOTH Zeke AND Pollard back. It will be one or the other.......all signs point to Pollard. To be honest, it would a bit embarrassing to bring Zeke back with only 25-30% playing time. Let him take his legacy and walk.

And please tell us what benifit is it keeping him on the field? To block?

Supreme short yard runner? Can find dirt cheap somewhere else. Pollard has shown just as much ability to gain the tough yards as well
" Just as much ability to gain tough yards as well ? "

Nah .. Pollard is not close to what Zeke in that area when it comes to grinding and powering it in at the goal line and short yardage.
Zeke is just too strong and powerful to coral and bring down head on, and has a knack for the goal line.

- But in the area of big play splash 20+ yard runs.., in-out hole burst... around edge and corners, ..and big play splash catches outta backfield
he's just not a playmaker anymore. He's a plodding lumberer..
The game speed and play mode really slows down to a methodical crawl when he has to take to rushing/receiving - outside his goal line/short yard specialist role .

- i cannot believe the only 27 yr Zeke seems to have been reduced to becoming the slowest, well known name RB in the NFL .

- Even if Zeke were to agree to a huge pay cut contract- If Pollard were to go down again with another injury,, we again would have to be reduced to the slowness Zeke will bring.

- Unfortunately Elliott is just damaged goods now. What's the use of being forced to rely on a slow, damaged good RB if our franchise RB is injured ?

Smart on his part. Nobody is going to pay him big money, but he's still a very useful player in his own way.

About $5 million a year is about right. Supreme short yardage runner, great in pass protection, and still runs OK with physicality.

But his best days are behind him, and I credit him for realizing this if the story is true.
Can we get a fullback that can do those things a lot cheaper?

Can't link it but Gehlken just tweeted that according to a source Zeke wants to stay and is willing to take a pay cut.
As far as I'm concerned the only way I would consider keeping Zeke is if he takes a pretty substantial pay cut. Maybe cut the remainder of his contract in half, and with very little guaranteed. The distribution of carries next year should be at least 60/40 in Pollard's favor.

Smart. He knows nobody else would want him. Give the guy a coaching job and be done with it.

Because he's quite possibly the best pass protecting RB in the league, and he's as sure as they come in short yardage. That's not something you find anywhere.
He sucks. Admit it and move on.

I don't think he ever cashed it in. He's just a RB who lost his juice. It happens to them all, some quicker/sooner than others. He's had a good career at both OSU and now the Dallas Cowboys. But it's over unfortunately. The team needs to move on. His days as a viable 10+ carry/game RB are over, especially on this team where we all agree we need to lean on the running game. An upgrade is needed to supplement Pollard's carries.
Yeah, I agree he had an exorbitant amount of carries in college and his first couple of years in the league. Looking back maybe that jumping into the end zone doing backflips was unneeded extra wear on his body?

Restructure and pay cut. But he won’t be the lead guy anymore. He was out of juice Sunday. But then again we don’t give him enough early carries to get in a groove. They were trying to feature Pollard. He did well but that injury hurt and they never gave Malik a shot. The same play that Pollard was hurt on seemed to be open most of the game. I heard that tackle style should be deemed as illegal. Was cheap shot.

If he reduced his cap hit to around $5m we save $11.7m and keep him on the roster. Makes a ton of sense.

Pollard better learn a lesson from Zeke and get as much money as he can. RB shelf-life is a short and we all know he carried the offense, like Zeke carried the offense the first four years and got paid.

Pollard could go to any team that has a WB gets players if his caliber in space and make an offense that much more explosive.

They had no problem cutting Dez, but can't let go of Zeke? Makes no sense
Dez was a scape-goat, the argument being his distracting presence was causing Dak to force throwing the ball to him, ignoring other WRs.

We see how that’s worked out. It’s the same story in year 7, the WRs are different though.

Zeke is not that type of presence and he can contribute, if he restructures.
