Not the owners, their teammates. The NFL has a salary minimum, so overpaying any player comes out of the other players' pockets.

No, overpaying players means you get lesser players around them.

Is it greed?

We make assumptions about greed without being in that circle. There is a huge difference between 10M and 15M and also about players making both amounts. Players estimate their own value by comparison to other players at their position.

It is a myth than Brady took less so they could pay other players or even that he would do that because his wife makes more money than he does. He did it because that's what he had to do to stay on that team and he knew exactly how that team was constructed and would be as long as Belichick was in charge.

Prescott was called greedy when he was negotiating when that entire business and sport is built around getting yours while you can and there is no such thing as loyalty. Kraft and Belichick were not loyal to Brady, Kraft made him take the deal and topped that off by telling the media "Tom had little choice, that was the deal". And Brady is still bitter because of it which is why he left NE out of his retirement announcement.

I never fault any player for going for all he can. The fault lies with those that give that to him, especially those that do that too often with too many players as this team has done consistently. They have the worst reputation with holding their ground with the agents and they earned that. The agents ignore what the Joneses have to say because they talk to talk. Every agent for every star just stares them down.
Yes, it is greed, pure and simple. This "get all you can" would apply if someone were making 50-75 grand per year. Making 34 mil per season has zero effect on your life if you up it to 40 mil. Zero. That is pure greed and should not be complimented. It's a sickness.

Not really
Each team can spend virtually anything they want to
They just spread it out
Players get paid what a team will pay them
If one team doesn’t then another will
And the minimum is almost impossible the violate anyway since it’s not about salaries but actual expenditures so one big bonus and you are set

Blame JG in his last hoorah……..

Thats a way to see it.

I blame JJ and his sun. They are the ones (GM) who sign players.
Also getting us into a stituation where we were so dependend on signing him.

But this franchise will never learn. Same thing happend with Romo.

HAHA, but what do i expect. Learn ? And idiot like SJ is and idiot because he is not able to learn.

Its so frustrating to know who owns the DCs.

I dont think Zeke is wash up. He still have thread but he has been under performing. Maybe its scheme or injuries?
He last a step but still can produce better but cant because of OL, especially the middle , LG and C.

I blame Zeke. Only crybabies hold out for cash 3 years into their 5 year contract.

You might want to check that. Players teams want to keep are normally given extensions after their 3rd year. That's SOP. If a team waits longer than that, then they are unsure.

No, they cannot spend anything they want. That's a pure fallacy that has been spread by people on this board. It is quite simply not true.

Bottom line is all the bad contract our drunken clown hands out are hurting the teams chances to win.

Overpaid players also kill the locker room. Imagine how the other players felt who sat beside Jaylon Smith. If you think they were happy for him you are crazy. If you think players were happy that Tyrone Crawford made all that money you are crazy. If you think people are going to be happy for Zeke and Dak you are crazy. If you make all the money you better back it up on the field.

Actually any team can sign anyone if they have the cash to spread it out
Teams only lose players because of the cap if they want to
Any player on this team could be kept
Whether it’s worth it or not is different
We could keep Zeke, Dlaw, cooper and sign Schultz, Kearse and Gallup if we wanted to just by restructure everyone available
It’s not smart but it can be done
The saints are 70 mil over the cap
They can clear 100 million tomorrow if they decided they wanted to
What can be done and what’s the right thing to do is not the same thing

He got his money before he fell off. Now set for life if he's not dumb with his money. Had he waited one more season he wouldn't have gotten paid nearly what he got. On the flip side, his contract hurts Dallas.
this has always been the case.
and his agent structured the deal to make it very, very hard to release him.
fans are emotional about it but this was absolutely the case of an athlete making the right financial decision.

rb's have very short high earning careers. Zeke has been very fortunate to get paid well early and follow that up with a monster deal.

smart GMs would prolly not draft RB high but instead invest an R3 or R4 yearly.

That is a fallacy perpetrated by greedy NFL owners. The salary cap is bs. And the resulting mentality of "taking money out of your teammates pocket" is a crab in a bucket view which owners attempted to create.

At the end of the day, playing in the N.F.L. is a job. Nothing more. And many fans who have never played a day of football in their lives don't understand the toll football takes on players. The same people who want these players to give their all to a team are silent when many players retire broken, barely able to walk, speech impediments, osteoathritis, nerve damage, brain trauma, etc.

Jerry could charge fans less for parking, admission, food, etc. Yet you don't demand this from him. You have a typical anti-labor stance which you label greed. But like most people you ignore the outright corporate greed of billionaire owners who most certainly don't need more money.

Yep, good for Zeke, bad for the Cowboys.
Why in the world our team redid his contract last off season making it impossible to cut him now, I don't understand.

I said it at the time.... don't give him the money and let him come crawling back. Anyone can see he was already slipping ..

Dumb signing.
Horrendous,
We have amateurs running our team
Others have professionals.

At the end of the day, the issue isn’t Zeke asking for as much as he could get.

The problem was Jerry panicking like a dumb fool.
