Zimmer: I probably panicked on some calls early

Terrible hire.

I was telling my friend the other day about why this team is so bad. I got to the defense and Zim. Told him that our DC is so old and outdated, he was at one point Deion Sanders’ DB coach. The same Deion Sanders thats a head coach now with a son thats about to be a top-5 pick.

Enough of these early 00s schemes.

..no...no..no enough, is enough. Just leave old man. Game passed you by.

Pass the playbook elsewhere.

What I don't like is the way the players who were not injured were playing. I expected the backups would struggle. But what's Diggs' excuse? I thought Zimmer would bring discipline to the defense. I thought he would get them to be more physical. Instead, they play soft. Maybe Zimmer should start by making them play tighter coverages. playing off is not working.

interesting that Zim mentioned “discipline” , this is a common theme. Didn’t stop the run with Marinelli, Nolan, Quinn and now Zim. Some of that in the past I’ll blame on scheme. Zim doesn’t do freelancing , which doesn’t bode well for guys like DLaw and to a lesser extent Micah.

If we run a traditional 4 Man front with sufficient talent we’d see different results. I don’t think Micah wants to play LB and to me thats the start of the problem. So he plays on the edge and gets run at. OSA is solid but not a Zimmer type.

If you have a disciplined Dlaw on one edge, maybe a kneeland on the other. Mazi AND a Linval Joseph inside then that allows your LBs including Micah to run and tackle.

Then when it’s time to pass Zim can get into his bag and send Micah up the middle of the edge etc. Zim can’t even get to any of his stuff because the Cowboys are to bust getting run over or jumping in gaps they’re not assigned to or missing tackles or Not being able to catch a football (Malik hooker).

And that’s the reason Zim looks pale white on the sidelines, because their is nothing he can call outside of a full on blitz that can stop the run and that’s not a guaranteed solution if guys don’t play their assignments like (cough Donovan Wilson cough).

Zim is not devoid of all blame but a bunch of this is on the players.

He really is Monte Kiffin 2.0. Gotta wonder if Dan Quinn and a Shanahan OC would've been much better.

And if Micah is refusing to play LB then trade him yesterday.

I’ve seen Zim and watched his D going back to his Bengal days. And I know something is off. Micah saying that Zim has never had a player like him before says a lot. So I don’t see Zim as a one year rental and DC being able to force Micah to play LB.

The other thing (I may be wrong) but is there a limit to how much and off ball LB can be paid as opposed to an edge player? That’s the other thing that may play a factor.

The advantage of having a coach like him is that his long years of experience means that he’s encountered every possible game situation and can approach it in a cool levelheaded fashion.

What? He himself said he just panicked and made wrong calls?

This is so disappointing for me. When they hired Zimmer it was like a dream come true. I imagined Micah and Kendricks running through gaps untouched tackling RBs and sacking QBs. I imagined the DLine holding up linemen and allowing the LBs to make plays. I imagined secondary feasting on errant throws. And what do I get?

Dudes getting run over and having their manhood taken and having Zim and Guenther look like they don’t know anything about football.

Defense has been horrible, but what is more disappointing is the offense. Look at the huge contracts we have at WR and QB and they do not produce.
Yeah, because it’s the money that makes them bad. LMAO can’t stand it can you?

I’ll probably going to get the fifth overall pic in the draft and we locked down a quarterback. That’s what’s disappointing not the paycheck . It’s the player.
