Zimmer was scarred by the pickle juice game

It's a good thing we decided to rehire him 20 years later after having NOT ever taken a team to a conference title game as either DC or HC. In JerryWorld you fail upwards.
Lol, 5 or 6 years ago half the board was constantly lamenting the fact that he wasn’t hired to be the head coach and that we had let Minnesota steal him. If nothing else this board is consistently inconsistent!

The starting Dline that season:
Greg Ellis returning from a broken leg!
Brandon Noble scraped up from the sewers of the European league I think!
Leon Lett 32yo and on the last desperate gasp of his career!
Alonzo Spellman who was apparent was suffering from bi-polar issues!
Didn’t even bother to look up who the backups were!

Zimmer has come full circle on being a Parcells Boy. Has that same 70-year man-titty old man beer gut. All he needs now are the high shorts and the student will become the master.

Remember that game? It caused fake tough guy Mike Zimmer to abandon an attack style defense in favor of being in constant fear of what the offense may do to us.

Be prepared for those 10 yard cushions on 3rd and 5. The just stay in your lane pass rush against mobile QBs. A defense that absorbs punches, they don't punch back. All the things that led to the GROZ-Get Rid Of Zimmer movement here.

3:40 of the video the coward admits this.

I have a better theory about what went on there, sissy boy. It wasn't the scheme. Your players just sucked.

Yeah but he’s loyal….

The defense really p***** me off. But what totally got me crazy was we could not stop Buddy's double gap blitz. We had nothing and that's the oldest defensive tactic in the book.

I think Myers, Zellner and Underwood were a part of that crew. Myers actually hung around the league for a while. The rest were either has-beens or nobodies.

Yeah he said Philly rushed for 220 that day….he also said in the interview with Werder that we might not get as many TO’s but the goal is to have a lower scoring Defense.
Philly actually ran for over 300 that day. Duce Staley by himself had 206. In the 2000 season, the Cowboys allowed three different runners to gain over 200 yards in a game (Staley, Charlie Garner and Warrick Dunn). That defensive front was horrific, and the linebackers were nearly as bad.

That was my prediction when he was hired. We will try to focus on the run and play his bend but don’t break style. Less emphasis on risks which will cut down the turnovers while trying not to give up the big play.

Didn’t really work too well in the GROZ days but here we are again.

He changed it up a bit in Minny so hopefully we won’t be so vanilla again. I’m quite confident however that we will always have one corner 10 yards off the ball. DQ even did that…

Didn't we use to rank near the bottom of the league for turnovers under him. I remember going through a period of time where we were in a turnover drought. For some reason I think it was under him.
We sucked at getting turnovers for the longest, and everyone in here rightfully complained. Quinn came in and changed that. If we had got a younger DC, i wouldn't have complained, but to go from Quinn to Zimmer is ridiculous and the only ones who think that was a good move are the usual posters who praise every move

I feel like Quinn was one foot out the door the past couple years and it was probably time to move on, but Zimmer was not someone I would have picked.

Zimmer just makes Jerry comfortable, that's the reason
And it’s one of “his guys.”

He has always done that. Every time there was a HC change…so he can coach the team from afar, which he could never get away with actually doing. Wish he tried.

I’m done being fooled by all that. At this point I’m waiting him out, then let the kid make a total fool of himself for a couple years…then just maybe a real football person can come in here and get this thing right.

We also omit the fact the Cowboys had the number one defense in football in 2003 under Zimmer as well.

2000 was his very first year as a DC and he admitted in the interview that the Pickle Juice game was a wake up call. Also his personnel that first season was.....not good.

Underwood? That was the goof that went running down the street with a knife and cut himself? I’d forgotten about him!
