Am I a bad Fan?

I long ago accepted that any real joy I would get from being a Cowboys fan, I had it a long time ago.

I have never been a fan of the NFL, its a corrupt, self serving organisation.

I have never been a fan of any other football team at any level.

All things considered, my fandom has been paper thin for many years.

I can't even explain why I still care even a little bit.

I guess there are worse fans than the O.P

Dude on New Year’s Eve my dad (87) fell down and hit his head and suffered 2 brain hematomas. Everything was going good and he was recovering and then last Monday he went to the ER and was in the hospital all week until Friday evening. He had surgery to fix 2 brain bleeds in his head. Fortunately they got it in time and he is home and making a recovery. He’ll be fine and we’re all relieved. It was a scary week tho and it’s amazing how little you care about the small things like football or Jerry Jones when things like this happens. I hope your dad is okay, hang in there, sending positive thoughts your way.
Yep, I take this team way too seriously.
Eternity is what matters, and who you spend it with.

That’s what I’m talking about. I don’t think anyone can be a “bad fan “ as they’re posting on a fan website on a Tuesday night in the offseason. Discouraged or angry, sure, but definitely a fan that cares. We’ve all had times of low moments as a fan. It happens.
Yep the last 29 years have been pretty low.
Honestly, if not for this site and the camaraderie here, don't know that I would have much fandom left for this team.

You're only wasting your time and being a bad fan, if you wish they lose, get embarrassed to embarrass Jerry. If you wish Dak plays poorly or gets hurt, if you constantly whine about the same thing over and over again, trying to take other fans with you, etc. Those are bad fans, in my opinion. Any fan that thinks like that, takes this GAME way to seriously. If it ruins your day, it's not worth it. I was in the hospital with my dad for 10 hours, just got home to chill for a couple of hours. This forum is just an escape from real life, I enjoy it, even arguing with the haters..... Go Cowboys! Enjoy it!
Oh and by the way...may I be among those to offer you healing thoughts and (real) prayers?

Sounds like you might be about same age as me...and loss is becoming ever more frequent.

If I may say, your father seems to be living a good long life. I was with my brother for 7 days (along with intermittent visits for several months) while he succumbed to his cancer. 62 years old. Healthy active ER Dr. Brutal battle in many ways.

Godspeed!

News flash: None of us gets to decide what it means to be a “good Cowboys fan”. Many on this forum have tried and still continue to hold court on what that means. But no one has been appointed the final authority or judge of what Cowboys fandom is or is not.

The best thing about this great Cowboys opinion forum is it allows many flavors of ice cream. As long as we respect each other and stay within the guidelines, all expressions of Cowboys fandom are not only allowed but encouraged. Go Cowboys!

I'll take some cookies-n-cream flavor please.

I don't think there really is such a thing as a "bad fan". Honestly, just the fact that we come here every day to discuss (nicer word than argue) the Cowboys shows we have a connection to the team. I imagine if you didn't want to have anything to do with the team ever again, you wouldn't be posting here. But, then again, maybe some of you are sociopaths. LOL

This is the first year in over 6 decades that feel I can really question my fandom. Everything from the front office, the coaching staff and to the players seems second rate. Yes, I'm an angry fan. So many years of "stupid is as stupid does" can wear on a fan that remembers when the Dallas Cowboys were the organization that people followed and admired, other teams tried to emulate, America's Team. I don't have that many years left, maybe I'm too old, maybe I expect too much. I feel like is it all a waste of time.
Not at all bro. Granted, I'm an outsider, but my brother and my crew of Boys fans are as fed up as one could be. One of them has in fact tapped out. It gets frustrating as a fan when you seem to care more about the team than the people in charge. Blood, sweat tears, and countless $ have been invested over the years, and it hurts when the desire isn't returned. Been a Cards fan for 47 years with 1 SB appearance to show for it. At least you guys have tasted the juice. You're not a bad fan at all.

Man...good health and recovery to BOTH of your dads brother.

I wouldn’t consider anyone that roots for a team to lose to be a fan of that team. Why waste your time? Go find a team you like and be happy.

My take is this: I am not going to allow Jerry's patheticness in my living room anymore. I refuse to accept mediocrity anymore. I refuse to listen to Jerry and his idiot son talk down to fans. Until that changes, I can come and go as I please with this franchise. I have better things to do.

Probably the best comment ever posted here. I totally agree, hermano.

Now, the haters and all the negativity here by fair weathered fans drives me away. I am a positive guy and want positive people around me, even on the internets. I always say, "The richest man can't buy time so spend yours wisely." It makes absolutely no sense at all to me to waste your precious time that God is giving you on a team you hate or no longer support because we're not winning Super Bowls anymore.

And I hope and pray for all the best for your Jefito. God bless!

p.s. I logged in after a few months being off just to say this. That's how good of a comment it was. ;)

Losing stinks and understand why you would feel that way. We did the same thing in the 3 seasons prior and seemed we had a chance to be in contention and blew it at all levels. Then last year everything went wrong from the offseason, then with all the injuries, etc. Now we have more expensive contracts coming up, more holes to fill, and a coaching staff that on paper offers very little to generate excitement.

Yes, the worse fan in the world. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I suggest you eat a bowl of worms! Now git...!
