Players won't listen. It does make a difference. These young coaches will bring energy and will speak up.

Yeah, just what I thought.I give Jerry all the credit for hiring Jimmy and staying out of the way.
Yes, signing checks.Yeah, just what I thought.
Jerry didn't stay out of the way. He was right there in on it all like he is now.
Then explain why we took so many DT's back then and we don't now.Yeah, just what I thought.

Why did we draft a QB in round 1.Then explain why we took so many DT's back then and we don't know.
Our drafting is pretty much polar opposite now. We don't even draft S's anymore. It's all about WRs and CBs and pass rushers and taking players who are dropping in the draft. And sure, one works out now and again, but how many Ganjory's are you going to take before you find a Lamb or a Diggs? Why did we draft a QB in round 1.
Jerry is reading the t-leaves and it is a passing league. Our drafting is pretty much polar opposite now. We don't even draft S's anymore. No one is going to buy into we are going to win a SB through the draft only.I have a hunch the staff is going to do a lot better than some expect..........their biggest challenge IMO is getting players to buy in. That starts with a group of core leaders .........
I voted B ..........
Part of it was no salary cap. They could do what they wanted. 12 rounds in the draft. Then explain why we took so many DT's back then and we don't now.
This I do agree with you.No one is going to buy into we are going to win a SB through the draft only.
Not a 1 single person.
2 of them, 1 was in the supplemental draft. Why did we draft a QB in round 1.
A tremendous amount of it had to do with Jimmy's knowledgeable of the college players. He was basically his own Scout from recruiting and playing against the top talent in the Country.Part of it was no salary cap. They could do what they wanted. 12 rounds in the draft.
Cherry pick what you want though.
Yes, exactly.A tremendous amount of it had to do with Jimmy's knowledgeable of the college players. He was basically his own Scout from recruiting and playing against the top talent in the Country.
Everything has to be a balance and we are more like a lopsided washing machine, with a loud thumping sound.Yes, exactly.
This is why I say Jerry is trying to recreate the Jimmy effect. With all these college coaches being hired. And younger coaches from other teams. Or seem to be younger.
Which kind of shows they will still rely upon the draft more than FA spending.
Of course my theory on that is a bit tongue in cheek sarcasm.
Uhhh, c'mmmoooooonnn. I didn't cherry pick anything. We took a plethora of DT and OL types in the draft. We could do what we wanted because of the Herschel Walker trade, had absolutely zero to do w/ the salary cap.Part of it was no salary cap. They could do what they wanted. 12 rounds in the draft.
Cherry pick what you want though.
And the funny thing is that he still hasn't figured out that the most important facet to stopping a passing game is a disruptive 3 tech. You can fill your roster w/ CBs and such, but if you don't get to the opposing QB he will tear you a new one.Jerry is reading the t-leaves and it is a passing league.
As I also posted. with 12 rounds, they could take multiple players at a few positions. And keep the best ones.Uhhh, c'mmmoooooonnn. I didn't cherry pick anything. We took a plethora of DT and OL types in the draft. We could do what we wanted because of the Herschel Walker trade, had absolutely zero to do w/ the salary cap.
It's blatantly obvious that Jerry had nothing to do w/ drafting back then. Our drafts now are completely different. It appears that you are the one cherry picking, doing what you are accusing me of doing. Is there any way we can leave the little "cherry picking" digs out and have a discussion?
Explain to me what you see that makes you think Jerry had a lot to do w/ player acquisition at that time.
That is Jerry's head thumping in the washing machine.Everything has to be a balance and we are more like a lopsided washing machine, with a loud thumping sound.
Maybe GM Jethro just needs some hearing aids.
