I actually don't get why anyone can grade this coaching hire at this point. I gave an A, but purely because we win whether it works out or not. The true choice is actually Unknown.

Why did we draft a QB in round 1.
Our drafting is pretty much polar opposite now. We don't even draft S's anymore. It's all about WRs and CBs and pass rushers and taking players who are dropping in the draft. And sure, one works out now and again, but how many Ganjory's are you going to take before you find a Lamb or a Diggs?

Jerry is reading the t-leaves and it is a passing league.

I have a hunch the staff is going to do a lot better than some expect..........their biggest challenge IMO is getting players to buy in. That starts with a group of core leaders .........

I voted B ..........
No one is going to buy into we are going to win a SB through the draft only.

Not a 1 single person.

A tremendous amount of it had to do with Jimmy's knowledgeable of the college players. He was basically his own Scout from recruiting and playing against the top talent in the Country.
Yes, exactly.
This is why I say Jerry is trying to recreate the Jimmy effect. With all these college coaches being hired. And younger coaches from other teams. Or seem to be younger.
Which kind of shows they will still rely upon the draft more than FA spending.

Of course my theory on that is a bit tongue in cheek sarcasm.

Everything has to be a balance and we are more like a lopsided washing machine, with a loud thumping sound.

Maybe GM Jethro just needs some hearing aids.

Part of it was no salary cap. They could do what they wanted. 12 rounds in the draft.
Cherry pick what you want though.
Uhhh, c'mmmoooooonnn. I didn't cherry pick anything. We took a plethora of DT and OL types in the draft. We could do what we wanted because of the Herschel Walker trade, had absolutely zero to do w/ the salary cap.

It's blatantly obvious that Jerry had nothing to do w/ drafting back then. Our drafts now are completely different. It appears that you are the one cherry picking, doing what you are accusing me of doing. Is there any way we can leave the little "cherry picking" digs out and have a discussion?

Explain to me what you see that makes you think Jerry had a lot to do w/ player acquisition at that time.

And the funny thing is that he still hasn't figured out that the most important facet to stopping a passing game is a disruptive 3 tech. You can fill your roster w/ CBs and such, but if you don't get to the opposing QB he will tear you a new one.

As I also posted. with 12 rounds, they could take multiple players at a few positions. And keep the best ones.

Jerry was in front of the cameras back then as he is now. He said he would be involved in everything. Some fans just want to use the success of the team, as all Jimmy. Which all of it was. As to on the field play. He also had Jerry to go pay all the players, whatever was needed.

It was both of them. And NO, I am not defending Jerry at all. Jerry pushed for the salary cap. And has failed under it ever since.
Jimmy could not get it done in Florida. Explain that.

I give it a C, because although it seems we had a couple of nice signings, eberflus is a so so signing.
the other piece is there is no strong voices in the room that will demand attention or big personalities to overcome Jerry.
jerry is going to run roughshod over this group as he did in the past 3 3 head coaches.

end result will be more of the same, a pseudo competitive team, the meddles in the middle and Jerry will say, next year!

oh, and this coaching staff is here to stay for 4 years. no doubt. no way they get fired, unless he goes 0-7 like Wade and 80% of stadium don't show up, then the ticket money is more than coaches dead money and he would have no choice.
